The new season is set two years after the events of the previous season’s finale. Grace has married Ian, and the Garvey sisters are happy for their sibling. However, their happiness does not last long as multiple people learn about their dark past.

Things take a turn for the worse when a dead body is found, and the sisters once again become suspects in the case and are investigated by the authorities. Meanwhile, Ian loses contact with them, which further elevates their problems. The show’s official synopsis by Apple TV+ reads:

“Two years after the “accidental death” of ‘Grace’s’ abusive husband, the close-knit Garvey sisters may have moved on but when past truths resurface, the ladies are thrust back into the spotlight, suspicions are at an all-time high, lies are told, secrets revealed, and the sisters are forced to work out who they can trust.”

The series was initially intended to have only one season. But after the outpouring of love by the viewers, the makers decided to continue the story. Speaking about how the sisters will deal with their past in the new season, Sharon Horgan told RadioTimes:

“I think when you kill a man, when you put yourself through that – and there were five of them in it – life is going to change. You don’t just dust yourself off and get on with your life. I was interested in what would happen to these women next. And we’ll find out.”
