American Idol Season 23: Gabby Samone earned a spot in the Top 7

American Idol Season 23 Episode 16 featured the Top 8 artists' performance, from which 7 were chosen to advance on the show. For her solo performance, Gabby Samone performed Mariah Carey's Hero. It was chosen by Lionel Richie as a part of the Judge's contest.

After her performance, Carrie Underwood appreciated Gabby's song choice and told her that she sang it beautifully. Lionel Richie complimented her by saying her stage presence was undeniable. He added that Gabby turned the Mariah Carey song into her own.

"Where does all this power and air come from? You give me all the star vibes," said Luke Bryan.

There was another performance by Gabby, which also featured Josh and Jamal. It was a group performance where they sang Dancing on the Ceiling by Lionel Richie.

With the votes Gabby received from the audience, she became one of the Top 7 artists. It includes Slater Nalley, Thunderstorm Artis, Jamal Roberts, John Foster, Mattie Pruitt, and Breanna Nix.
