With Season 3 of The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, on the horizon, the cast sat down with Deadline to tease what's coming and what's at stake. Let's just say emotions are already running high, with love triangles sharper than ever and heartbreak looming like a summer storm. The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 is all set to release on July 16.

During their discussion with Deadline, when the cast — Christopher Briney, Lola Tung, and Gavin Casallegno — was asked about the possibility of a spin-off, here's how each of them reacted.

Briney was quite enthusiastic and pointed out,

"I would want to see the college years of Susannah and Jackie's character Laurel, Adam and Colin. Like the college years But I want it to be like a sitcom with no audience and no laugh track. There’s just silences. They pause for laughs that aren’t there. I think it works."

Tung added,

"They all play themselves playing college kids."

Meanwhile, Casalengo agreed to his co-star's ideas.

There is no official update regarding a spin-off of The Summer I Turned Pretty yet, even though there is a high possibility. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner/author Jenny Han revealed,

"Three books, three seasons. It feels right to me. "

However, do not worry, in a 2023 interview with Deadline, Vernon Sanders, the Head of Television of Amazon and MGM studios, seemed positive about a spin-off as he shared,

"It had been one of our goals for years to have that defining show for that audience. So we're just over the moon... This show is going to continue to be a huge centrepiece for us and we absolutely have plans to continue building it. Jenny got great vision for where she wants to go with all of it, but we're already hard at work developing contemporary pieces."

In the interview with Deadline, when the cast was asked about how they felt while bidding farewell to their characters in the third and ultimate season of the series, they unanimously said that it was bittersweet.

Briney revealed that it was a bittersweet moment bidding goodbye to his character, but shared that he was also quite excited about future opportunities. Tung said that she still remembers filming for The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 1, being all nervous and wondering whether it would be successful or not, and the rest is history. Gavin Casalegno said,

"Oh, man… it was more bitter than it was sweet. Getting to grow with these characters for the last couple of years has been so much fun. Especially seeing how well received all of our characters are to people has been really cool. And, getting to bring life to the books. I think we’re all really excited, and it was really sweet."

Created by Jenny Han, the coming-of-age romantic drama delves into the life of Isabel 'Belly' Cocklin, a teen caught in a love triangle with the two Fisher brothers. The series is based on Han's bestselling novel trilogy bearing the same title as the Amazon Prime series.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Seasons 1 and 2 are available to watch on Amazon Prime.
