9-1-1 Season 9 will finally return on ABC on October 9. Ryan Murphy's beloved firefighter procedural drama series has been a staple of the network's Fall schedule since its premiere in 2018.
The upcoming season will feature the return of almost all the main and supporting cast, who play firefighters and paramedics in the procedural. However, fans will not get to see one beloved face in the upcoming season, Peter Krause's Captain Bobby Nash. The 118 Captain made a heroic sacrifice in 9-1-1 Season 8 and tragically died after he was exposed to a life-threatening virus in a two-episode special event. Krause can still appear in some flashbacks or visions, but will not return as a main character.
In addition to this major cast shake-up, 9-1-1 Season 9 has not introduced any new cast members yet.
Here is the complete cast and character guide for 9-1-1 Season 9.
9-1-1 Season 9 cast: Every main character to return in the upcoming season
9-1-1 Season 9 is not expected to have major cast shake-ups (except for our beloved Bobby Nash). The major characters will return to Station 118, but will likely have different roles after the harrowing events of 9-1-1 Season 8. The complete list of main characters returning in Season 9 is as follows:
1) Angela Bassett as Athena Grant-Nash: The last time we saw Athena, she was off to somewhere. This worried some fans that Bassett might not return in the new season, but Angela will be back. Since she cleared her differences with Chimney in the Season 8 finale, she will make a fresh start after Bobby's death in the previous season. Angela Bassett is most famously known for her roles in ER and American Horror Story.
2) Oliver Stark as Evan "Buck" Buckley: A firefighter in Station 118, Buck underwent the most traumatic event in his life in 9-1-1 Season 8. While Bobby was loved by each of his firefighters, he was a father figure to Buck, and his death will have a profound impact on Buck in Season 9. You might have seen Oliver Stark in projects like Into the Badlands and Dracula.
3) Aisha Hinds as Henrietta "Hen" Wilson: A firefighter and paramedic in Station 118, Hen is also confirmed to return in 9-1-1 Season 9. While Hen was offered the job to become the next captain after Bobby, she declined it in Season 8. The upcoming season will continue to expand on her professional and personal life with Karen. Hinds is famously known for her roles in The Shield and True Blood.
4) Kenneth Choi as Howard "Chimney" Han: Another firefighter in Station 118, Chimney will have all eyes on him in the new season as he is the most likely candidate to make the new captain. While nothing is confirmed for now, his moving speech in the Season 8 finale practically cemented him as the unofficial captain of 118. Now that Chimeny is also a father, things might become slightly difficult for him. Kenneth Choi has previously worked on Sons of Anarchy and The Wolf of Wall Street.
5) Ryan Guzman as Edmundo "Eddie" Díaz: A firefighter in Station 118, Eddie had packed his bags and was almost ready to head back to Texas with his son in Season 8. However, Chimeny's moving speech confirmed that Eddie will stay in LA and will continue to appear as a main character in 9-1-1 Season 9. You might have seen Guzman in projects like The Boy Next Door and the Step Up series.
6) Jennifer Love Hewitt as Maddie Han: Maddie will have an added responsibility on her shoulders this season, as she became a mother in Season 8. In addition to being a 911 dispatcher, Maddie will also be seen taking care of her family in 9-1-1 Season 9. Love Hewitt has previously worked on projects like Criminal Minds and The Client List.
9-1-1 Season 9 cast: Every supporting character to return in the upcoming season
In addition to these main characters in Station 118, Season 9 will also feature these returning supporting characters:
1) Gavin McHugh as Christopher Díaz, Eddie's son
2) Anirudh Pisharody as Ravi, a firefighter in Station 118
3) Corinne Massiah as May Grant
4) Elijah M. Cooper as Harry Grant
9-1-1 Season 9 will premiere on ABC on Thursday, October 9.
