The White Lotus is a black comedy drama anthology mixed with sharp social satire that keeps viewers on edge.
The show is an exciting watch as we see the characters' lives unfold. Aside from the obvious plot points and stellar performances from the actors, the show thrives on its subtle hidden details.
Here are seven of them.
7 hidden details in The White Lotus Season 3 you might have missed
1) Opening Credits of Sam Nivola

The White Lotus truly has some of the most intriguing hidden details. These may be overlooked when watching the series. One of the most important hidden details that is usually overlooked by many viewers is the opening credits of the show.
If you look closely, during the opening credits where Sam Nivola’s name pops up, you see a picture of a man drowning.
Doesn't that remind you of the hallucinations seen by Sam Nivola’s character, Lochlan. In the third season, Lochlan’s father meets a Buddhist monk. The monk gives his father a unique advice,
“you land back into the ocean. Become one again.”
After Lochlan nearly dies from accidental poisoning, he begins hallucinating and imagines himself drowning.
It is rare to see small details of the episode portrayed through hidden details in the opening credits.
2) Luxury

The White Lotus shows viewers a world of luxury that portrays both, glamour and sophistication. Though some of the outfits looked understandably expensive, some of the characters were more subtle in terms of how they showcased themselves.
For instance, did you know Patrick Schwarzenegger’s character, Saxon, wore a watch that cost $23,000? It was a Hublot Big Bang Unico Black Magic 44mm watch.
This expensive watch subtly reinforces his position within the show's affluent world. It is a visual cue that speaks to Saxon’s privileged background.
It's difficult to keep track of all the jewelry and accessories worn by the characters as the plotline is too intriguing to get distracted. However, the addition of such a piece shows the attention to detail in The White Lotus.
3) Ke Huy Quan cameo

Although The White Lotus has had many cameos throughout the seasons, Ke Huy Quan made one appearance in the show's third season. Although many may not have noticed his presence on camera, his voice was definitely heard.
In episode 2 of the third season, we can clearly hear Ke Huy Quan’s voice when Timothy Ratliff speaks on his phone. Ke Huy Quan plays the role of Kenneth Nguyen and even though we can't see his face during the conversation, his performance is quite intriguing.
4) See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil

The White Lotus seems to use numerous monkey symbols throughout the show, using over 140 monkey statues.
One of the monkey symbolisms is found in the episode where Lachlan, Piper, and Saxon return to the hotel. We see Piper wearing headphones, symbolizing "Hear no evil". Then Lachlan is seen drinking from a bottle with the lid near his mouth, symbolizing the saying "Speak no evil".
Finally, Saxon is seen wearing sunglasses, symbolizing "See no evil". This scene from The White Lotus has the ability to perfectly depict the famous monkey symbolism that many might not have noticed.
5) Chelsea’s snake bite

The foreshadowing in The White Lotus is one of the most intriguing aspects of the show. Several moments represent future plot points. One such incident is Chelsea’s snakebite. It is a subtle hint that viewers may not notice.
However, in episode 2, we see Chelsea searching for a serpant choker. However, in the very next episode, she almost meets her end. As Chelsea and Rick watch the snake show, Rick’s emotions are stirred.
Rick gets the feeling of extreme sympathy for the caged reptiles, and therefore, decides to help the snakes escape. He opened the snakes' cage doors and leads them to freedom. However, Chelsea saw what Rick was up to when she arrived.
Before she could do anything, however, she was attacked by a poisonous snake. She screamed in pain and was taken to the hospital by the snake show authorities, and Rick followed her when he realized what he had just done.
The foreshadowing of this snake collar incident is such a subtle and intelligent hint that it really adds to the beauty The White Lotus as a show..
6)Yin and Yang

In the seventh episode of The White Lotus, we see Chelsie talking to Saxon about her relationship dynamic with Rick. She explains to him that Rick told her his whole life story the first day they met. She adds that it made her feel like they were meant to be together.
She added that she and Rick are yin and yang. Rick represents pain, and she represents hope. Ultimately, one of them would win. At the end of episode 8, when Rick’s anger gets the better of him and he kills his father, a bullet hits Chelsea in the chest, and she dies in Rick’s arms.
Later, Rick is also shot, as he falls into the pond with Chelsea. In that moment, their bodies floated in a way that represented the yin and the yang. In the end, Rick’s pain won over Chelsea’s hope. This scene is truly poignant and left a deep impact on viewers.
7) Aleksei’s snake tattoo

The White Lotus did it again, this time with Aleksei’s tattoo. Aleksei is shown to have a tattoo of a snake. Throughout the third season, we saw different images depicting different things, with monkeys and snakes forming an integral part of the season's theme.
Snakes are usually associated with evil and negativity. When Aleksei’s tattoo is shown, many may not have noticed that it was actually a foreshadowing of his connections with the world of evil. It later turns out that he was connected to the robbery.
