Port Charles Online News | Hour-long "Surrender" Kick Off Wins Award

Port Charles director Scott McKinsey was awarded the Directors Guild of America Award for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a Daytime Serial for directing the one-hour episode that kicked off Port Charles' tenth book, "Surrender." This is McKiney's first award for his work on Port Charles.

McKinsey, the son of actress Beverlee McKinsey (ex-Alexandra Spaulding, Guiding Light), was awarded with Daytime Emmy Awards for his directorial work on General Hospital in 1999 and 2000.

In the award-winning episode that aired December 30, 2002, Alison and Rafe were prepared to wed until Alison feared that she and Rafe were siblings, Stephen and Elizabeth decided to tie the knot and Tess and Livvie both found themselves thrown into the icy waters near the docks... but only one of them emerged from the water safely.
