Vice President of Baidu, Xie Guangjun, has issued a public apology on WeChat Moments, per The Global Times. He expressed remorse after his 13-year-old daughter, allegedly disclosed private information of more than 100 individuals. Per reports, his daughter leaked the data amid an online argument involving IVE's singer, Jang Wonyoung.
Per the domestic news outlet Yicai, Xie Guangjun acknowledged his daughter's mistake and apologized to all the affected individuals. Pop Base also took to X to share the news. While the source of the online argument is unclear, one user (@ksami_mzamilu) took to the comment section and explained:
"The girl is a Wongyoung stand getting in argument with Wongyoung hater. Then some hater called the girl cheap and poor, the girl then leaked the info of her father’s wage to prove that she herself is rich to slap the haters face. By the same time, she doxed the haters."

The daughter of the Vice President of Baidu's controversy comes to light amid her comments against a Weibo user. Per the Standard, the two reportedly got into an argument after the latter criticized a fan page's post about K-pop star Jang Wonyoung. It is unclear how the argument escalated, but eventually led Xie Guangjun's daughter to leak personal data.
While it is unclear how Xie Guangjun's daughter accessed the personal data, he has apologized to the affected individuals and noted that he reprimanded her. In an apology note shared by Global Times, he explained,
"My daughter had a disagreement about a Korean celebrity in an online discussion. She later used overseas social media to expose the other person’s personal information."
He added,
"As a father, I failed to detect and guide her in handling the matter properly in a timely manner, nor did I adequately teach her to respect and protect others' and her own privacy."
He added that he felt "extremely guilty" and "sincerely" apologized to all the affected individuals.
Baidu is one of China's largest search engine companies. On March 18, Vice President of Baidu, Xie Guangjun reportedly extended an apology to all those affected by his daughter's doxing attempt. He admitted to his daughter's mistake and revealed his guilt.
