Kevin Gates and his ex-wife separated on July 30, after Dreka filed for divorce based on "irreconcilable differences". According to court documents, Dreka Gates mentioned that the couple had been separated since July 10. In addition to the divorce filing, she also filed for joint legal and physical custody of her children, Islah and Khaza, as well as spousal support.

Kevin and Dreka's divorce comes after Gates was having a short-term fling (52-day marriage) with Britanny Renner ended. All this time, while Kevin was with Brittany, Dreka refused to comment on her personal issues, but focused on promoting and growing her skincare brand.

But this is not the first time Kevin has been accused of cheating on his ex-wife. Before Brittany Renner, a woman by the name Persia P also claimed to have dated the rapper. Now, Gates is addressing the fact that rapper Kiari Kendrell Cephus, a.k.a. Offset, posted his ex-wife on his Instagram stories.

Kevin Gates and Dreka's relationship timeline

Kevin Gates and Dreka's relationship began in the early 2000s. While the exact beginning of their relationship is unclear, Dreka spoke about being with Kevin for 16 years during an interview with The Source in 2016.

When they met, both of them were just teenagers who immediately fell in love with each other. They were probably 14 or 15 when they started dating. Over the years, Kevin and Dreka became inseparable and even entered into business together. She helped manage him as his music career grew. She also helped launch Kevin's Bread Winners' Association in 2010.

The couple welcomed their first child, Islah, in 2012, and then their son, Khaza, in 2014. A year later, the couple got married in October, in a wedding ceremony that was long overdue.

When Gates released a cover of Kodak Black's song Super General, there was speculation that Dreka and Kevin were having marital troubles.

In 2024, Dreka spoke out about her marriage to Kevin Gates during an interview with Baller Alert. The pair have been together for more than two decades, and she admitted that there were highs and lows in their relationship. She said:

"Life is lifing... At the end of the day, that’s still my best friend."

She added:

"We're both coming into this relationship, we're both bringing our own sh*t into this relationship... To be honest with you, the time you weren't seeing us together were really just us working on ourselves."

However, things seemed to change in 2025, when Dreka filed for divorce in July. Kevin Gates was having extramarital affairs with influencer Brittany Renner. However, before Renner, there was a woman who claimed to be dating Gates.

Persia P said:

"This man told me he's legally separated, so that's that. I simply came onto this platform to express how I feel 'cause I have every right to feel the way that I do and to women that are going through the same thing. It's okay to stand up for yourself. Dealing with men that manipulate, gaslight, lie, all of that. I'm just sick of it all. I'm sick of this man leading me on this whole time."

Kevin and Dreka Gates' divorce marks the end of their decades-long relationship, with Dreka now seeking custody, support, and stability for their children. Despite past reconciliations, Kevin's affairs and their growing differences ultimately led to their separation.
