The second week of Diddy's trial began on May 19, 2025, and Wednesday, May 21, was the eighth day of testimony in New York. Previously, the singer Cassie Ventura's mother, Regina Ventura, Diddy's former assistant, David James, and a male escort had given their testimonies in court.

On Tuesday, Gerard Gannon, an agent with Homeland Security Investigations, gave his testimony, which continued on Wednesday, along with testimonies from Forensic Psychologist Dr. Dawn Hughes and Diddy's former assistant George Kaplan.

Diddy has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) in Brooklyn, New York, since his arrest in September 2024.

Key highlights of Day 8 in the Diddy trial

Wednesday, May 21, 2025, was the eighth day of Diddy's trial. The court heard testimony from Dawn Hughes, who is a board-certified clinical and forensic psychologist. She explained to the court how common it is for victims to stay in abusive relationships for months and even years, because of the trauma bond that forms.

While the psychologist did not reference Diddy or his accusers, her explanation was meant for the jury to understand why victims like Cassie stayed in an abusive relationship for so long. The defense attorney, Jonathan Bach, characterized the psychologist as biased and pointed out that she works for prosecutors in similar cases, but the former remained neutral, as per CNN.

Special Agent Gerard Gannon from Homeland Security continued his testimony by recalling the raid on Diddy's Miami Mansion. He told the court that the agents discovered a Gucci bag which had pills, including MDMA tablets and white residue that tested positive for Ketamine and cocaine. They had also found a loaded .45 caliber handgun, as per The Guardian. On Tuesday, the agent had told the court that they had found heels, baby oil, s*x-related items, and lingerie.

George Kaplan, Diddy's former executive assistant, also testified on the eighth day of trial. He told the court that he worked 80 to 100 hours a week and was paid about $125,000. His role involved arranging clothes, drugs, food, and liquor. He also said that when Diddy would travel to Miami, Atlanta, or other locations, he would travel with him in his private jet or fly in advance to set up the hotel room for him with items like baby oil, drugs, and candles.

Kaplan also told the court that he had understood that his role also involved protecting Diddy's image. He said that a female would accompany Diddy in those hotel rooms, and after he left, Kaplan would clean the room and mentioned that he often found baby oil, liquor, and sports drink bottles left behind, as per CNN.

Prosecutors plan on calling other witnesses on Thursday, including the rapper Kid Cudi, who was briefly in a relationship with Cassie Ventura. Diddy faces criminal charges including sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy, and transportation to engage in prostitution. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
