On Wednesday, prosecutors asked the Fulton County court to cancel Young Thug's probation after the rapper reportedly posted on Twitter about a police investigator, Marissa Viverito, calling her a liar. The report further noted that District Attorney Fani Willis also received threats.

After the report was filed, Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Williams, denied the prosecutors' statement in a tweet by adding:

"I don’t make treats to people I’m a good person, I would never condone anyone threatening anyone or definitely participate in threatening anyone. I’m all about peace and love"

According to new reports, Superior Court of Fulton County Judge Paige Reese Whitaker has ruled that his probation will not be revoked and will remain in effect.

The statement made by the judge is reproduced here:

"Upon consideration of the State’s April 2, 2025 Motion to Revoke Defendant’s probation which alleges a violation of the terms and conditions of Defendant’s probation for having posted a picture of a particular law enforcement officer with the caption “biggest liar in the DA office”, and Defendant’s April 3, 2025 response thereto, and having reviewed the terms and conditions of Defendant’s probation imposed by this Court, the Court declines to revoke Defendant’s probation based on the violation asserted."

Young Thug's sentence explained

Rapper Jeffery Williams, professionally known as Young Thug, was sentenced to 40 years in prison after his October 2024 trial for crimes linked to the YSL gang.

After pleading guilty, Williams received credit for the five years already spent. Of the remaining 35 years, 20 were suspended, as long as he followed probation rules. This left him with 15 years of probation, allowing his release under strict supervision.

A recent statement from prosecutors surfaced through a viral tweet and raised concerns about his probation. The statement made by the prosecutors stated his:

"continued presence in the community under probationary supervision presents a clear and present danger to public safety and undermines the rule of law."

However, the latest court ruling confirmed that Jeffery Williams’s probation will not be canceled and he will remain under supervision.

For now, the rapper will continue his probation under strict rules until its completion. However, any future violations could still put his suspended sentence at risk. Based on the judge's statement, he could be sent back to prison to serve some or all of the remaining years of his suspended sentence.

With his probation still in place, Young Thug is confirmed to perform at the Summer Smash Festival, headlining on June 22.
