Rapper Tay-K reportedly sentenced to 80 years in jail
Rapper Tay-K was sentenced to 80 years in prison on Tuesday, by the jurors who found him guilty of the murder of the photographer Mark Anthony Saldívar in 2017. As per Hollywood Unlocked, Tay-K was on the run for the murder he committed in 2016 when he was accused of a second murder in 2017.
The authorities in Bexar County, Texas had issued an arrest warrant against Tay-K. They alleged that he was part of a group that had picked up Mark Saldivar for a photoshoot.
Further, the prosecutors explained how the murder happened, they said that once Mark was in the car, he was held at gunpoint for his camera equipment. He then got into a quarrel with Tay-K which led to him being shot and killed. Mark was 23 years old when the incident took place. His body was found in the parking lot of a Chick-fil-A restaurant.
Before giving the prison sentence on Tuesday, the jury spent about eight hours deciding that Tay-K was guilty of the murder. They, however, didn't mention that he was guilty of capital murder. A capital murder charge would mean life in prison without parole. Then on Tuesday, they handed over the 80 years in jail sentence.
Tay-K is currently serving 55 years in jail for crimes he committed in 2016. He, along with a group of people, was involved in a home invasion in Mansfield, Texas. During the robbery, 21-year-old Ethan Walker was shot and killed. Although it was not Tay-K who had shot him, because of his involvement in the plan, he was found guilty on three counts of aggravated robbery and murder.
Before the sentence was announced on Tuesday, testimony was taken from the victim's family and also from Tay-K's family. His sister Kayla Beverly mentioned that they had an abusive childhood. She also mentioned how they were placed in a foster home as their mother was a drug addict. She also recalled being abused by their foster mother.
The 24-year-old Tay-K will remain in custody at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
