Australian singer-songwriter Sia’s marriage to Daniel Bernard has come under public attention once again, this time because of a high-profile spousal support battle. Their relationship began privately and later turned into a lavish celebration in Italy. It ended in divorce filings after nearly two years together.
Court documents show that Bernard is now seeking over $250,000 per month in spousal support, sparking interest in when and how the couple’s relationship began and ended.
According to People magazine, Sia and Bernard were legally married in December 2022, though they celebrated their wedding several months later. The couple’s union, which appeared quiet and private, has since become the subject of media coverage due to the ongoing financial dispute.
Sia and Daniel Bernard’s wedding timeline
As per People magazine, Sia and Daniel Bernard officially tied the knot in December 2022. However, their public ceremony took place in May 2023 at Dolce & Gabbana’s Villa Olivetta in Portofino, Italy. It was the same venue used by Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker for their wedding.
The event was small and private, attended by only a handful of guests.
“Sia married boyfriend Dan Bernard in a surprise wedding in Italy,” People reported, noting that the ceremony reflected her preference for privacy.
The pair reportedly met a few years before their wedding and maintained a relatively low-profile relationship. Us Weekly described their connection as “steady and private,” with the two rarely making public appearances together. Despite their quiet lifestyle, she occasionally posted glimpses of Bernard on social media, referring to him affectionately as her partner.
By March 2025, however, the relationship had ended. Sia filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing “irreconcilable differences.” According to TMZ, the filing listed March 18, 2025, as their date of separation. This means their marriage lasted a little over two years, from December 2022 to early 2025.
The $250K spousal support request

The couple’s split gained wider attention after court filings revealed that Bernard was seeking $250,856 per month in temporary spousal support. As reported by TMZ, he also requested $300,000 to cover attorney’s fees and an additional $200,000 for forensic accounting costs. Bernard’s claim argues that he became financially dependent on her during their marriage after leaving his job as a radiation oncologist at her request.
According to The Daily Beast, Bernard stated in court documents that he had no source of income after stepping away from his career and that their joint business venture had ended. He also highlighted the luxurious standard of living they maintained. Their monthly expenses reportedly ranged from $400,000 to $500,000, including a Los Angeles estate and full-time staff.
Her legal team has pushed back against Bernard’s demands. As per Billboard, she has requested that the court deny spousal support altogether. The singer is also seeking legal and physical custody of their child, Somersault Wonder Bernard, who was born in March 2024.
