Joe Seiders, drummer for The New Pornographers, has been placed under arrest on account of child p*rnography. The Riverside County Sheriff shared a press release on April 17, 2025, mentioning the series of events that led to Seiders’ arrest.

Concerning the investigation, the Riverside County Sheriff wrote:

“The Palm Desert Station Investigations Bureau continued the investigation, serving search warrants for Seiders' residence, vehicle, and cell phone. Evidence was located implicating him in the two reported incidents, along with additional crimes, including possessing child p*rnography.”

Moreover:

“Seiders was booked into the John Benoit Detention Center in Indio for possession of child p*rnography, annoying/m*lesting a child, invasion of privacy, and attempted invasion of privacy.”

According to the press release, on the afternoon of April 7, 2025, around 3:55 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an incident on Dinah Shore Drive in Palm Desert. When they arrived, an 11-year-old boy told them that a man he didn’t know had used a phone to record him while he was in the restroom.

Again, on April 9, 2025, around 5 p.m., deputies got another report from the same place. An employee said a man was repeatedly using the restroom. When deputies arrived, they found and arrested Joe Seiders.

Pitchfork noted that Joe Seiders’ bail amount has been fixed at $1 million. Reports say the drummer denied all the charges against him and is scheduled to appear in court on April 22, 2025.
