Concerning the investigation, the Riverside County Sheriff wrote:

According to the press release, on the afternoon of April 7, 2025, around 3:55 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of an incident on Dinah Shore Drive in Palm Desert. When they arrived, an 11-year-old boy told them that a man he didn’t know had used a phone to record him while he was in the restroom.
Again, on April 9, 2025, around 5 p.m., deputies got another report from the same place. An employee said a man was repeatedly using the restroom. When deputies arrived, they found and arrested Joe Seiders.
