PETA, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, has reacted to the HasanAbi dog abuse controversy. Hasan Piker or HasanAbi gained criticism after a clip from his October 7 livestream went viral.

The popular Twitch streamer in the livestream raised allegations that he activated a shock collar on his dog to control her behavior. HasanAbi can be seen scolding his dog Kaya for stepping out of the camera frame, to which the dog responds with a sharp yelp.

The clip led many users to suspect that Piker uses a shock collar to punish Kaya. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, while addressing the HasanAbi dog abuse controversy, said,

"Hasan Piker has denied using a shock collar on his dog, and we hope that's true because shock collars are dangerous and downright cruel. They put dogs at risk of burn wounds, chronic anxiety, and displaced aggression."

PETA also added and said, "Positive reinforcement is a far more effective training method and doesn't betray our animal companions' trust in us."

"I didn't touch her" - streamer reacts to HasanAbi dog abuse controversy

HasanAbi, in a follow-up broadcast, denied dog abuse allegations and clarified what happened in his earlier stream.

"Yes, she yelped because she f**king clipped herself on something when she was getting off the bed. I didn't touch her. I don't use any shock collars or anything like that, that's insane."

The streamer also criticised social media accusations and said,

"It's going viral that they're claiming the most well-trained and most spoiked, best-kept dog on the planet is being abused by me. Because I gave her the place command while she was getting off, and then she yelped."

HasanAbi, while reacting to the shock-collar comments, said,

"They said you shocked her with a button. Yeah, in my evil villain lair. Good thing I didn't hit the f**king trapdoor button instead on accident."

The Twitch streamer also clarified that Kaya's reaction was because she either "stepped funny or clipped her foot on something" and not because of a shock collar. Despite HasanAbi's denials, critics online circulated an old video clip of Piker admitting to owning a shock collar and describing it as "incredibly effective."

YouTuber and comedian Ethan Klein had also reacted to HasanAbi's dog abuse controversy and accused the streamer of cruelty. Klein noted that Kaya's reaction and crying "in pain" as she steps off the bed is a result of "some brutally strict training."
