Lil Nas X has left jail after pleading not guilty to four felony charges, following his arrest for walking naked on the streets of LA. The ‘Industry Baby’ hitmaker was taken into custody on August 21, 2025, after the LAPD received calls of a “man nude in the street” around 6 am.

Lil Nas X allegedly assaulted an officer who had responded to the call. The artist, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, appeared in court on August 25, 2025, where he pleaded not guilty to three counts of battery with injury on a police officer and another count of resisting an executive officer.

The 26-year-old was held in custody until he posted a $75,000 bail. He has a preliminary hearing on his case scheduled for September 15, 2025. He faces up to five years in prison if he is found guilty of the charges against him.

The police believe that the superstar was under the influence of drugs at the time of his arrest. The judge has ordered Lil Nas X to attend four Narcotics Anonymous meetings per week. Drew Findling, a member of Lil Nas X’s legal team, is optimistic despite his recent trouble with the law:

"He’s never been in trouble for a split second in his existence; we’re not going to let one little event change the trajectory of his amazing life."

"Don't forget he's 26 years old," Lil Nas X's attorney says in his defense

Drew Findling, an attorney for Lil Nas X, in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter outside of the courthouse on August 25, 2025, emphasized that the Old Town Road crooner had never had previous trouble with the law, adding that he was only 26 years old and was facing the pressures of fame:

"Anybody that has kids, you hear about things like this all the time. Don’t forget, he’s 26 years old. It’s not unusual for something like this to happen, particularly when you have the pressure of being recognized internationally like him.”

Journalists tried to find out if Lil Nas X’s run-in with the law was a result of drug use or other medical issues, but the attorney replied:

“There’s no way for us to know right now.”

The rapper’s father also spoke with the reporters at the arraignment, urging everyone to keep him in their prayers:

“We said shed tears, we shed laughter, but he’s in great spirits. God is good all the time. Keep him in your prayers.”
