Lil Nas X is believed to have been tased during his arrest in Studio City. The rapper faced four felony charges, including one for obstructing an officer and three for injuring police officers after walking naked on the road. He pleaded not guilty to all four charges.
In an audiotape obtained by TMZ of Thursday morning, an officer can be heard reporting a Black man walking toward Universal Studios completely naked, followed by the sound of a taser. Moments later, an officer is heard saying:
"They're requesting use of force."
The audio reveals officers dispatching a medical unit for a man. The man was believed to be around 40 years of age and was alert and breathing. However, it has not been confirmed whether Montero Lamar Hill, famous by the name Lil Nas X, was the one who was tased.
The rapper was granted bail after paying $75,000 and is currently out of jail.
Lil Nas X's father, Robert Stafford, gives his statement on his arrest
Montero Lamar Hill's father, Robert Stafford, while speaking to reporters of NBC, said that his son is:
"Very remorseful for what happened."
Continuing the statement, he said:
"He’s going to get the help that he needs, and just keep him in your prayers. Give him the same grace and mercy that God gives everyone."
After his arrest, the rapper was taken to the hospital and later transferred to Van Nuys Jail.
His attorney, Drew Findling, while speaking to The Hollywood Reporter about Lil Nas X and his case, said in a statement:
"He’s never been in trouble for a split second in his existence, we’re not going to let one little event change the trajectory of his amazing life. There’s no way to have a sense of what happened this immediately, but we’re going to look into it and do the right thing"
Continuing his statement, he said:
"Anybody that has kids, you hear about things like this all the time. Don't forget, he's 26 years old. It's not unusual for something like this to happen, particularly when you have the pressure of being recognized internationally like him."
Lil Nas X has not publicly addressed the incident or released any statement on his social media platforms. His most recent Instagram post was uploaded on August 20, prior to his arrest, and there have been no updates since.
