A rumor has been going around that President Donald Trump has plans to construct a statue of Jesus Christ on the White House lawn.
X account USA News (@usanewsonhq) was among the first to circulate the claim on the microblogging platform. They shared an AI-generated video of a large statue of Christ with his arms wide open, akin to the Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro.
"BREAKING: Liberals are lashing out over reports that Trump may unveil a Jesus statue on the White House lawn. Do you support this?" the caption reads.
Another similar post also went up on Thursday, and the two posts have since reportedly gained millions of views between them. The claims come amid a charged atmosphere for conservative Christians, who form a large chunk of the president's Republican support.
As of this writing, there is no official intimation from the president or the White House corroborating these claims. USA News also reportedly posted the same claim earlier in the year with the caption:
“Should a statue of Jesus be built on the White House lawn? YES or NO? If YES, I will follow you back!”
Grok, Elon Musk's AI assistant, also debunked the rumors:
“No, there's no truth to reports of Trump unveiling a Jesus statue on the White House lawn. Fact-checks from Snopes, Yahoo, and others confirm it's based on AI-generated videos circulating since early 2025. No official sources support it.”
Concerns about President Donald Trump's health explored:
Newsweek has reported that the rumors come amid a photo of Trump's Oval Office desk going viral. On it, a map was spotted, prompting speculations that the statue was also in the works as part of the United States’s 250th anniversary celebrations next year.
Donald Trump, 79, has already announced that a new White House ballroom will be constructed, complete with a 900-person seating capacity. Conor McGregor, who was convicted of s*xual assault just last year, will also make an appearance for a boxing match on the Fourth of July, though the identity of his opponent remains unclear.
In other news, since he took office this February, concerns about Donald Trump's health have been rampant. Mirror has reported that the president spent three hours at the Walter Reed Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, this week, where he was subjected to a "scheduled follow-up evaluation." His physician, Navy Captain Sean Barbabella, penned in a memo issued on Friday night:
"President Donald J. Trump remains in exceptional health, exhibiting strong cardiovascular, pulmonary, neurological and physical performance."
The president was also reportedly given a COVID-19 booster vaccine and his yearly flu shot. Barbabella also added that his cardiac health is about 14 years lower than his actual age.
Donald Trump underwent a similar checkup in April, and at the time it was announced that he was "fully fit" to serve as president.
