Streamer Kyedae announces she is stepping back from Twitch after her fiancé's retirement.
Kyedae Alisha Shymko, known mononymously as Kyedae, came back to Twitch nearly a month after her last stream only to announce that she is stepping back from streaming. In the stream, she randomly jumped into a Valorant game with her fiancé, Tyson "Tenz" Ngo. When fans asked about her comeback and whether she was quitting, she vaguely responded by saying she has “one foot out the door”.
“I probably won’t be back to streaming for a while,” she said at the end “Or, if you do see me, it’ll just be randomly, every once in a while. But yeah, I’m kind of done with streaming. Bye guys.”
This abrupt goodbye left fans quite confused. However, later on, she came to X to release an official statement about quitting.
In her tweet, she got quite candid and stated:
"Hey everyone! I’m sure some of you have probably noticed that I haven’t been streaming at all recently. For those closest to me, this won’t come as a surprise—stepping away from streaming is something I’ve been thinking about for years. Truthfully, streaming was never my dream or end goal. That’s not to say it wasn’t a great opportunity (and yeah, it is an easy job in a lot of ways), but before I ever hit 'go live,' I was studying with plans to head to med school. I put that on the back burner to give streaming a real shot. Over time, though, I started to feel a growing sense of resentment toward it."
She declares this is the best decision for her at the moment and wants to shift her focus to prioritising her health.
"So I’ve made the decision to take an indefinite break from streaming. It’s what’s best for me right now—and honestly, I haven’t felt this happy and at peace in years. Part of this is due to some recent health complications, and part of it is just shifting priorities—I’ve taken on new commitments outside of streaming, including competing in Game Changers. Thank you all for the support up to this point. Stay happy, stay healthy, and take care of yourselves."
Fans speculate Kyedae's departure
Some fans speculate that one of the reasons Kyedae is stepping back could be due to health complications related to her past. The streamer was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia in March 2023 and announced that she had successfully completed chemotherapy later that year, though it didn't mean she was rid of all health concerns. Alisha also suffered from Carpal Tunnel in 2024, which was one of the reasons her fiancé retired to take care of her.
Others express that her departure could be so that she could focus more on playing Valorant professionally, which is what she mainly played during her streams.
