According to a report by Allkpop, as of July 4, 2025, KST, V has reached over 68.07 million followers on Instagram. It has reportedly made him the most-followed K-pop soloist on the platform. Moreover, he has been ranked third globally in influencer impact by HypeAuditor. The K-pop artist has surpassed global celebrities like Selena Gomez and Kendall Jenner. He has been placed just behind football icons Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.

This new record relatively positions V as the most influential Asian celebrity on Instagram. Notably, this comes after taking a step back from active music duties due to his military enlistment.

Who is BTS' V?

His real name is Kim Taehyung. The singer-songwriter debuted as part of BTS in 2013 under Big Hit Entertainment. Alongside group activities, he has also explored solo projects. He released tracks like "Singularity," "Stigma," and "Love Me Again."

In 2023, before enlisting for military service, he released his debut solo album Layover, which topped charts worldwide. Reports suggest that it was significantly praised by fans and enthusiasts. In December 2023, V began his mandatory military service in South Korea. He was officially discharged on June 10, 2025, along with BTS member RM.

Allkpop reported that the United States alone accounts for over 12.4 million of BTs' V's Instagram followers. His Instagram account gained 1.22 million new followers in 25 days following his discharge from the military.

According to HypeAuditor's latest ranking of the Top 1000 Most Influential Global Influencers, V is currently third overall. He ranks number one in the global music category. Regionally, he takes the top influencer spot in the United Kingdom and ranks third in both the United States and Brazil.
