In a turn of events, Kim Soo-hyun is set to take legal action against defamatory statements made against him in the Kim Sae-ron saga. This legal step was revealed by GOLDMEDALIST, the agency representing the actor, via a press release on April 15, 2025.
The agency stated that they would be taking legal action, citing the recent surge in malicious statements, online posts, and false information against the actor.
“Recently, indiscriminate malicious posts, comments, and baseless information about our artist Kim Soo Hyun have been circulating online. Unfounded speculation and unverified claims continue to mislead the public and inflict significant damage on our artist’s reputation.”
The agency further added that, due to fan reports and internal monitoring of the whole situation, they have filed a criminal complaint for defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act and insult under the Criminal Act.
As we recall, a scandal broke out on March 10, 2025, when a YouTube channel claimed that Kim Soo-hyun had dated the late actress Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor. Since then, there has been a constant discourse about the actor’s relationship, or lack thereof, with the actress, with several news and gossip sites leveling allegations against parties involved.

In their press release, GOLDMEDALIST addressed netizens named “cyber wreckers” who have been spreading misinformation for the sake of trending online, stating that they were working with legal agencies to combat them on different social media platforms:
“These creators exploit their anonymity to produce fake news and incite cyberbullying. We are working with international legal teams to take action against such activities on platforms like YouTube and X (formerly Twitter).
The agency further revealed plans to “safeguard their client’s rights against clear criminal activities.”

GOLDMEDALIST’s actions against defamation come after their client appeared at a press conference on March 31, 2025, where he denied ever having a relationship with the late Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor.
Kim Soo-hyun stated:
“Many people are suffering because of me. I also feel sorry that the late actress [Kim Sae-ron] isn't able to rest in peace,”
