As reported by Dimsum Daily on April 11, 2025, the family of the deceased Kim Sae-ron attempted to disprove the narrative painted by YouTube personality Lee Jin-Ho through a statement issued by Sports Kyunghyang.
Rebutting the allegations by YouTuber Lee Jin-ho, Sae-ron's family reportedly stated that the actress hung out with her female friend on May 27, 2019, the supposed day Lee Jin-ho claimed she was caught kissing another fellow who wasn't actor Kim Soo-Hyun.
They also claimed that the late actress called her mother that evening to confirm her whereabouts and dispel any rumors of a secret romance. Her family added that the actress's phone contains pictures and videos taken that evening with her friend.

The 38-year-old YouTuber shared a video that seemingly showcased Kim Sae-ron allegedly making out with someone in 2019, the year she was supposedly dating the Queen of Tears actor, Kim Soo-hyun.
In the video as translated by Korea boo, Lee Jin-ho explains that actress Kim Sae-ron and actor Kim Soo-hyun were not in a relationship at the time the former claimed they were. He adds that they were both involved with different people from 2016 to 2019. He backs up his claim with what he calls “decisive visual evidence.”
The YouTuber shared a video that allegedly shows Kim Sae-ron involved romantically with a man. Jin-ho explained the source of the video and how it couldn't clearly capture the actress' face based on the distance from which it was taken.
"Since these were taken from a considerable distance, Kim Sae Ron’s face is not clearly visible. However, this video was taken by one of her closest friends, who was surprised to see Kim Sae Ron engaging in public affection and decided to film it," he said.
He continues:
"This footage eventually circulated to some staff members at her agency, and through similar processes, I was able to obtain it. The metadata of the video confirms that it was taken on May 27, 2019. This means that Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron were both dating different people at the same time, as this evidence shows."
These new allegations come up amidst the ongoing tension between Lee Jin-ho and Sae-ron’s family as the latter previously filed a complaint with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency for defamation and dissemination of information, which, according to the late actress’ family, affected her mental health and severely damaged her reputation.
Following the lawsuit, a video was reportedly shared by Lee regarding the complaints filed against him, in which he talked about how he clearly understood the family's grievances on the whole matter, also stating that he didn't mean to falsify the genuineness of the relationship between Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron.
On February 16, 2025, the 24-year-old South Korean star was reportedly confirmed dead at her place of residence in Seoul.
The Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun scandal started on March 10, 2025, following a YouTuber's claims about the former being 15 years of age at the time of the duo's relationship. During a press briefing on March 31, 2025, Soo-hyun denied the claims about his relationship with Sae-ron when she was underage.
In light of the controversies, Kim Soo-Hyun has received considerable backlash from fans and sponsors, as he reportedly lost ambassadorial deals with several brands, including DINTO, PRADA, Jo Malone London, and China CUCKOO.
