More details on The Devil Wears Prada 2
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is the sequel to the 2006 movie, based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 book of the same name. It will be released on May 1, 2026. Aline Brosh McKenna wrote the screenplay, and David Frankel directed the movie. Wendy Finerman and Karen Rosenfelt handled the production.
Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, Tibor Feldman, and Tracie Thoms will reprise their roles from the original film. Other celebrities appearing in the mobile include Lady Gaga, Donatella Versace, Daniel Liu, Sydney Sweeney, Rachel Bloom, Patrick Brammall, and Conrad Ricamora.
According to IMDb, the plot follows:
“Miranda Priestly's struggle against Emily Charlton, her former assistant turned rival executive, as they compete for advertising revenue amidst declining print media while Miranda nears retirement.”
Before a sequel was confirmed, screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna and director David Frankel told Entertainment Weekly in 2021 that they were considering a sequel.
“We had a meeting where we said, ‘What could we do if there was a sequel?’ Maybe it was stupid; we felt like, No, this story has been told. Lauren eventually wrote another book, following up 15 years later. We came to the same conclusion that just following the characters wouldn't be the same,” David said.
Aline added that times have changed and that filming The Devil Wears Prada 2 would be quite a different experience from the original.
“Magazines and publishing have changed so much. This is a period of time where [Andy] took a physical book to someone's house every day so she could leaf through it. Maybe they still do that, but I doubt it. It had its moment!”
