Mariah Carey has two fraternal twins with her ex-husband, Nick Cannon: Moroccan and Monroe, who were born in 2011 in Los Angeles.
Recently Mariah Carey and her daughter Monroe made an unexpected appearance while Moroccan was live streaming on Twitch. The moment was sweet and caused a bit of embarrassment to Moroccan. Fans caught the moment and were quick to express their delight at the sight of Moroccan's mother and sister.
Mariah and Nick co-parent the twins, and in an interview with People, Mariah expressed what she and Nick feel about their kids. She said,
''They're a lot, but they give me so much love in return. I wouldn't be the same person without them. I think Nick and I have done pretty well in co-parenting, staying friends with each other so that we can talk."
Family Details of Mariah Carey explored
Mariah Carey gave birth to her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, on April 30, 2011, which also happens to be her and her ex-husband Nick's third wedding anniversary.
Mariah, best known for her single All I Want for Christmas Is You, and her ex-husband Nick have been quite vocal about their kids and parenting. In the Howie Mandel Does Stuff podcast, hosted by comedian Howie Mandel, Nick spoke about his twins. He said,
"It's my first time having 12-year-olds, and I have a set of them! And we're having real conversations. Because, you know, their lives are far from normal. Their mom is one of the biggest entertainers to ever live and their dad is me.''
Nick Cannon is an actor, comedian, and rapper. He is best known for hosting The Nick Cannon Show and for his performances in films such as Goal II: Living the Dream and Drumline.
Among the twins, Monroe was born first and then Moroccan. Mariah Carey, in her memoir, The Meaning of Mariah Carey, released in 2020, mentioned how she wanted both her children's names to begin with the same initials.
Mariah and Nick have always been proactive with their children. Monorey and Moroccan joined Mariah at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles in May 2017. They were six years old at the time and joined their mother to sing on Always Be My Baby.
Recently, in November 2024, they joined Mariah at the Christmas concert at the Hollywood Bowl, where Moroccan played the drums and Monroe played the guitar, danced, and also sang with her mother.
On Valentine's Day, Mariah posted a picture with her son on her Instagram of both of them at a restaurant for a dinner date, and Moroccan posed with a love you balloon. She captioned the picture:
''My funny Valentine 💕💕💕''
Mariah and Nick often share fun moments with their children on social media. One such was a TikTok shared by Nick on his Instagram in 2022. In the video, we can see Nick and Monroe lip-syncing to Emotions, one of Mariah's 1991 songs. In the video, they have wrapped themselves in blankets and are vibing to the song.
Another such fun moment was when Mariah posted a reel on Instagram with Monroe. In the reel, Monroe tries to lip-sync to It's a Wrap, and just then Mariah appears and takes the microphone from her. The reel was captioned as
''POV: every time I try to practice some vocals''
Although Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon separated in 2014 and had their divorce finalized in 2016, they maintain a supportive co-parenting relationship with their kids and often share little moments of their lives on social media.
