More details on Emma Heming’s new book

On April 17, 2025, Emma Heming announced her book The Unexpected Journey: Finding Strength, Hope and Yourself on the Caregiving Path. The book, which is set to be published on September 9, 2025, will honor Bruce Willis’ journey and battle with frontotemporal dementia (FTD).

In an Instagram post shared on July 5, 2025, Heming talks about how scared she feels to step out and promote the book. She describes it as coming out of her comfort zone:

“l've been feeling some trepidation about stepping out to promote this book. Public speaking and being forward-facing don't come naturally to me. I know it might not seem that way, but the truth is, this is me stepping way out of my comfort zone. Still, when you care deeply about something - when you know your story, tools, lived experience, and the lessons you've learned might help someone else, you speak up.”

Heming adds that the book isn't just about her experience with FTD but also about acknowledging everyone who has walked or is currently going through the experience. She expressed:

“Because the causes I care about are bigger than me. And the call to support others is louder than my fear. This book isn't just mine, it's for all of us walking this road. The Unexpected Journey is coming September 9th (link in bio), and I can't wait to share more with you.”
