As Sean 'Diddy' Combs's trial goes on, a number of startling revelations have come to light in the public domain. We are now into the second week of the much-publicised trial that has been marked by heavy and sensitive testimony from his former associates and former romantic partners. Owing to the serious nature of the allegations against P Diddy, the atmosphere inside the courts has also been very tense as a result.

Judge Arun Subramanian has repeatedly had to juggle between his role as an arbitrer and a judicial watchdog, as he has had to make sure that sensitive information is not leaked while also trying to make sure that the court's harmony remains intact. As the allegations against Sean 'Diddy' Combs have grown more severe, Judge Subramanian has been holding longer talks with the prosecutor and the defendant’s lawyers.

When things got serious inside the court and tensions rose, Judge Arun Subramanian told a joke to cheer up the courtroom on May 21, 2025. As the judge arranged for another sidebar conversation, he joked about exchanging the usual white noise in these private talks with ‘elevator music’ instead, and in the process, drew subtle smiles from those present in the courtroom.

The judge said:

"We're going to get some Muzak put in for some white noise next time."

As is usually the case with such high-profile cases, the sidebar conversations have been lengthy and frequent. At some points in the conversation, Judge Arun Subramanian has even requested the jury to leave the room for some time. This small moment of humor also lightened the mood inside the courtroom and helped to maintain the juror engagement and comfort.

What else happened on Day 8 of the 'Diddy' Trial?

Day 8 of the much-scrutinized case also continued to bring to light fresh new evidence in the case, as a former aide of Sean Combs took the stand on May 21. George Kaplan, Diddy’s former executive assistant, opened up on the responsibilities that entailed his job description - he testified about working 80-100 hours weekly while procuring drugs and preparing hotel rooms with specific items like baby oil and personal lubricants for the rapper.

This was also accompanied by a testimony from clinical psychologist Dawn Hughes, who provided her views on the trauma bonds that develop within abusive relationships. Sean Combs' legal counsel strongly opposed her views and even called them out as biased point of views.

The trial is now expected to pick up where it left off, with George Kaplan scheduled to continue his testimony on May 22, 2025, where rapper Kid Cudi is also set to make an appearance.
