Mark Lipsitz, the label manager of Bar/None Records, died on July 5 at the age of 62. The announcement was made by Bar/None Records on their Instagram page with the statement:

"The Bar/None family is heartbroken to share the loss of our beloved friend and colleague Mark Lipsitz. Mark was a fierce artist advocate and championed the music he discovered, pushing everyone he knew to be the best musician and the best person they could be."

It continued:

"Mark created friendships and networks of people that would never thrive as they do without his influence. The work he leaves behind will enrich us all forever. We'll miss you always, Mark."

The statement did not mention the cause of his death. However, as per the statement made by IVY, a pop band, he died of a heart attack.

According to Pitchfork, Mark Lipsitz joined Bar/None Records in 2001 to lead marketing. Over time, he made his name on the label and also recommended new artists along with being the manager. He also helped artists like Ezra Furman, the Front Bottoms, and Big Star’s Alex Chilton.

The Feelies, IVY, and more share emotional tributes following Mark Lipsitz's passing

IVY, an American indie pop band, wrote a long tribute to Mark with the statement:

"Our beloved Mark Lipsitz just passed away suddenly, unexpectedly, tragically of a heart attack. Dominique and I are devastated. And the irony is, for the past 30 years — and behind his adorable back — IVY would constantly talk about how beautiful that heart was, how sensitive and caring and kind he was, how down to earth he was, what a music business anomaly he was…"

Another American rock band, The Feelies, wrote on their Facebook account:

"Mark was a great partner and longtime supporter at Bar/None Records. He was tireless in his efforts in helping to promote the band, but at the same time he understood and ultimately appreciated what was important to us as individuals as we lived inside the world of music."

The Paranoid Style, a rock band led by husband and wife Elizabeth Nelson and Timothy Bracy, shared on X:

"All I had was a raft of songs and a few positive reviews when Bar/None Records first signed me. An unfinished product, but then that was always their way. Like Abba advised, they took a chance on me. Label manager Mark Lipsitz died today. Like so many others, I'll badly miss him."

Along with bands and artists, fans from all around the world are sharing their memories, remembering Mark for the support he gave to so many.
