On June 20, 2025, Kacey Musgraves revealed on her Instagram Stories that she was in Mexico when she slipped on wet tiles during a rainstorm.
She said, “Wednesday night it was raining and I was running to grab some towels and had an extremely hard fall on some very slick tile I didn’t see.”
Kacey Musgraves shared an X-ray showing a clear crack in rib number six.
She added, “Thankful I didn’t smack my head but I landed very, very hard on my back left ribcage and broke rib number six.”
Kacey Musgraves explains how much pain she is in and why travel is impossible

Musgraves didn’t hide the difficulty of simple tasks, writing:
“This s--- is no joke. I’m in a lot of pain and doing ANYTHING is extremely difficult.”
She noted she’s “managing and being well taken care of,” but confirmed she can’t board a plane back to Nashville while her rib heals. Doctors typically advise avoiding strain for several weeks after a rib fracture. Her team is focusing on rest, pain management, and gentle breathing exercises.
Her Nashville event has been moved to a new date in September

A performance at Nashville, Ryman Auditorium called Sing of Science scheduled on June 22, 2025 has been postponed to September 18, 2025. Customers holding original tickets are allowed to attend and those who cannot should request a refund within 30 days.
This event pairs Kacey Musgraves with fungi expert Paul Stamets to discuss psilocybin and mental health. She apologized to fans, calling it:
“so sorry for the inconvenience.”
She says she is bummed because she had been looking forward to the event

In her statement, Kacey Musgraves wrote, “I am extremely bummed to have to reschedule as I have been looking forward to this for months.
She emphasized there was “literally no other option” once doctors advised against travel. Her honest tone struck a chord with fans, many of whom replied with messages of support. Musgraves thanked everyone for understanding and the outpouring of kind words.
Her other shows remain on the calendar for later this year
Despite this setback, Kacey Musgraves plans to return to performing by early July. She’s scheduled for Zootown Festival on July 5, Hinterland Music Festival on August 2, and Up in the Sky Festival on August 9. After that, she’ll resume her headline tour through September and October.
Fans can look forward to her live shows once she’s fully healed. With rest and care, Kacey should recover in time for her summer dates, and she sends gratitude for all the good wishes.
