After more than a decade, The Pogues are returning to North America for a tour in 2025. This is going to be their first tour in the region since 2011 and is part of their ongoing celebration of Rum Sodomy & the Lash, their beloved 1985 album.

As revealed by Consequence, original members James Fearnley, Jem Finer, and Spider Stacy will lead the tour. They will be joined by a lineup of guest musicians and vocalists.

The band is mainly known among fans for blending traditional Irish folk music with punk. Their return comes after the passing of their frontman, Shane MacGowan, in 2023. The band's newly announced tour has stops in multiple U.S. and Canadian cities, such as Washington, D.C., Boston, New York, Toronto, and Montreal.

The Pogues took to their official X (formerly Twitter) handle to post:

"The Pogues announce their first US & Canadian dates for 13 years. The tour will include guest vocalists and musicians chosen by Jem, Spider & James from the finest contemporary Irish & UK artists, and together they will celebrate 40 years of Rum Sodomy & the Lash. Tix on April 4"

The tour is being presented as a tribute to Rum Sodomy & the Lash, which turns 40 in 2025. The album was produced by Elvis Costello. It features beloved tracks like A Pair of Brown Eyes, Dirty Old Town, and The Sick Bed of Cúchulainn.

Anti Music reports that in an official press release by The Pogues, it was stated:

"To celebrate the fortieth anniversary of our second LP, Rum Sodomy & the Lash, a veritable Super Session of musicians, a Last Waltz if you will - including the Pogues themselves, members of bands that have come after, such as Lankum, featuring such incomparable artists as Lisa O'Neill and John Francis Flynn, not to mention from the Bad Seeds - will gather to rekindle the music on the record with a new fire."

It also adds:

"We are looking forward not just to raising a glass or two but also to raising the roof with our fans and friends, old and new, to celebrate the music we've made and the alliances we've formed over the years."
