Miley Cyrus celebrated her father’s birthday by gifting him a special song she had recorded alongside members of Fleetwood Mac. Billy Ray Cyrus turned 64 on August 25, 2025, and it was a wholesome birthday celebration for him.
The Achy Break Heart crooner shared a snippet of his special birthday song, titled Secrets by Miley Cyrus, and expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful present:
“For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called Secrets and got my favorite musicians, Fleetwood Mac, to play on it! I love you, Millie.”
The video shared by the country singer shows him in a leather jacket, a T-shirt, blue jeans, and pigtails listening to his birthday song on a grassy field.
“I wanted to be the one he felt safe enough to tell me the things that were damning and damaging to the family,” Miley Cyrus revealed the meaning behind Secrets in June 2025 interview
The Grammy-winning singer had previously talked about her special song on the Monica Lewinsky podcast in June 2025. The Flowers hitmaker revealed that Secrets was inspired by the tension between her and her dad:
"Wrote this song about my dad,” she said, “because I wanted him to tell me even though there were secrets, even though I didn't really want to know. I wanted to be the one he felt safe enough to tell me the things that were damning and damaging to the family.
She added,
"I wanted him to think that as a middle child, I'm old enough that I could take some of that.”
Miley, her father, and the rest of their family have resolved their differences. The singer added that sides were formed after her parents’ divorce in 2022, and her family drifted further apart.
She was grateful that her family had chosen to communicate their feelings and had started being active in each other’s lives:
"And then as we start bringing some happiness and joy into each other's lives, then we'll just be in a better place to have these conversations. ‘Cause I'd rather get it balanced first.”
Miley Cyrus also stated that the Secrets track would make it to her upcoming album. Lindsey Buckingham and Mick Fleetwood are credited on it.
