Bernie Sanders transformed Gloria Molina Grand Park, LA, into a living place of music, activism, and political ground on Saturday afternoon. An estimated 36,000 people gathered not for a music festival but for a unique blend of entertainment and advocacy as Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez brought their "Fighting Oligarchy" tour to the city.

The rally, dubbed “Berniechella” by singer Maggie Rogers, featured performances from prominent artists such as Neil Young, Joan Baez, and more.

Who performed at Bernie Sanders' L.A. rally?

Bernie Sanders addressed the audience with a message of unity and purpose.

“We are going to make our revolution with joy,” Bernie Sanders said. “We’re going to sing and dance our way to victory against hatred and divisiveness.”

The rally began at 9:30 in the morning. The performances by artists including Jeff Rosenstock, Indigo De Souza, and David Longstreth attracted a larger audience. While the music filled the air, speakers, including teachers, union leaders, and lawmakers, also got up to speak on a bunch of issues. They talked about healthcare, immigrants' rights, and fair wages. The main focus was addressing economic inequality. Joan Baez sang protest songs.

Rogers continued the rally’s message of change. She began with a new favorite song, "Different Kind of World," and then brought out a track that people love. She performed "Light On" from her album Heard It in a Past Life. Then, she continued with the song "Alaska."

She invited Joan Baez up on stage as well. They sang a classic folk song together, Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright." And to finish their set, they performed a duet of "America the Beautiful" together. Joan added a verse toward the end that celebrated women working together and being sisters across the whole country.

Neil Young kicked off his performance with a song called "Rainbow of Colors," which praises diversity and sings about standing against attempts to wash away that diversity here. As he kicked into his song "Rockin' in the Freedom World," he launched into an energetic chant of "Bring America Back." By mid-song, Joan Baez and Maggie Rogers joined in and harmonized with chants of "Power to the people."

“Thank you, folks,” Young told the audience. “Thank you for being here this weekend, next weekend and the week after that until we get things straight. Keep coming back.”

Before stepping off the stage, Young thanked the crowd and introduced Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, inviting everyone to stay engaged and committed to continuous change.

Neil Young’s chant of “Take America Back! echoed across the park, reinforcing the emotional tone of the event. With several artists, the event gained wide attention.
