Australian DJ and producer, FISHER, has been honored with a day being named after him in Los Angeles.

As reported by Billboard, March 29 is now officially known as “Day of the Fish” in Las Vegas. It was announced shortly before FISHER played a headline at TAO Beach. The star took to Instagram to celebrate the news on March 31:

"NO FKN WAY!!! THEY NAMED A DAY AFTER ME IN LAS VEGAS! MARCH 29th IS OFFICIALLY ‘DAY OF THE FISH’!! THANK YOU LEGENDS @taobeach,” he wrote at the time.

The Australian producer, whose real name is Paul Fisher, was born and raised on the Gold Coast of Australia. Before becoming a DJ, he pursued a career as a professional surfer for many years. He eventually segued into his now-profession in 2005, though it was only in 2011 that he became a producer as well.

He is known for hits like Ya Kidding, Stop It, and Ya Didn't, though his most famous track to date is his breakout, Losing It. The track eventually dominated the Australian Club Tracks chart, topped the Billboard Dance Charts, and earned FISHER his first Grammy nomination.

FISHER's achievements and accolades explored:

On Saturday, March 29, a proclamation rolled out announcing that the day would henceforth be known as the official DAY OF THE FISH. The DJ signed the document just before he put on a show. According to Billboard, it reads as follows:

“We welcome [FISHER] to Las Vegas and thank him for bringing his energy and music to our fabulous city.”

Notably, FISHER has made headlines for his back-to-back performances with Chris Lake, who is his longtime collaborator. The producer's latest feat comes on the heels of his announcement that his record-breaking music festival, OUT 2 LUNCH, would be returning.

The festival will take place at Surfers Paradise next month, on Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4. There, the Australian DJ and producer will headline on both days, and attendees can expect guest performances from the likes of Chris Lake, Patrick Topping, DJ Boring, and Noizu.

Local icons will also join the show, including Hayden James and Jake Smith. Little Fritter and Shimmy are also expected to make a comeback to the stage. The festival is expected to attract as many as 40,000 attendees.

Last year, the event was held at Coolangatta Beach, clocking in 30,000 punters in attendance. It broke the continent's record for the biggest beach party to have ever been held, and according to local outlet The Music, it injected $50 million into Australia's economy.
