Taylor Swift has fans buzzing with excitement over the debut of two vinyl variants for her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
According to Variety, the vinyls were featured on her webstore under “The Shiny Bug Collection.” Both of these variants showcase the same cover photography of the songstress, clad in an exuberant derrière.
However, one of these LP editions is being sold as “violet shimmer marbled” vinyl, while the other is a “wintergreen and onyx marbled” long-player. The two are limited editions and will be on sale for only 48 hours, or as long as supplies last. Taylor Swift announced the news on her Instagram:
"The Life of a Showgirl: The Shiny Bug Vinyl Collection is available now on my site for 48 hours❤️🔥 Album Producers: Max Martin, Shellback and Taylor Swift."
According to USA Today, the vinyl retails for $29.99 and includes a "unique shiny bug edition" poem penned by the songstress herself. It also comes with a photo strip of four photos, alongside a collectible album sleeve and some brand-new photos and album lyrics.
Here's everything we know about Taylor Swift's forthcoming album, as the songstress explains the meaning behind its cover art:
During her recent appearance on Travis and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast, where she announced her forthcoming album, Taylor Swift reflected on its artwork. She gave a shoutout to Alas and Piggott, whom she said she also worked with in 2017 for her album Reputation.
'I loved what they did with those photos, so I called them up for [this album],' she shared. 'I am so happy with the way the photos came out with this one.'
She also said that she wanted to go "all out" for the artwork of The Life Of A Showgirl because she feels 'so proud' of the music.
'This is a full send. I care about this record more than I can even overstate.' Noting that the cover is supposed to showcase what the 'end of [her] night' looks like on tour, she said, 'My day ends with me in a bathtub — not usually in a bedazzled dress — but we try to keep it decent,' Swift joked. 'I wanted to glamorize all the different aspects of how [the Eras Tour] felt and [the The Life Of A Showgirl cover] is how that felt at the end of the night.'
The album is reportedly due on October 3 and features a duet with Sabrina Carpenter. Per The Daily Mail, the titles are: The Fate Of Ophelia, Elizabeth Taylor, Opalite, Father Figure, Eldest Daughter, Honey, Ruin The Friendship, Actually Romantic, Wi$h Li$t, Wood, CANCELLED!, and The Life Of A Showgirl.
"I am so grateful for the ability to create," Swift also said on the podcast. "With the altitude I was reaching, there was more pressure every step of life. I was getting more creative control and freedom at times, and that is why it felt so much more special to keep working harder."
Per USA Today, Taylor Swift worked on her new album while performing across Europe for her Eras Tour, flying in and out of Sweden to finish it.
