The Lollipop hitmaker, Lil Wayne, appeared on the Rolling Stone cover after almost 15 years. The first time he featured on the prominent magazine's cover was back in 2009. The 42-year-old rapper, who is considered to be one of the most influential and successful hip-hop artists of all time, opened up about a bunch of things in his latest interview with Rolling Stone, including how he felt about not being selected to headline the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime show.
The Grammy-winning rapper, in his interview, informed that he will never again consider performing at the Super Bowl Halftime show, as he was passed over by the organizers, who instead chose Kendrick Lamar. Even though the 2025 Super Bowl was held in Louisiana's New Orleans, which happens to be Lil Wayne's hometown, he did not attend it.
The Stuntin' Like My Daddy rapper shared with Rolling Stone that he did not watch the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime, instead, he stayed home and played pool with Lil Twist. During Lamar's halftime set, Lil Wayne confessed he went outside for a smoke. Wayne, in his interview, mentioned that every time he peeked at his television set during the halftime show, the rapper said:
"It was nothing that made me want to go inside and see what was going on."
The media outlet, Pop Crave, took notice of this and shared on their X (formerly Twitter) handle about how Lil Wayne felt regarding the Super Bowl Halftime. You can check out Pop Crave's X post below:
Besides not being selected to headline the Super Bowl halftime, Lil Wayne was highly disappointed and hurt, as the NFL organizers had led him to believe that he was a potential frontrunner for the halftime show. The Go DJ hitmaker added:
To perform, it’s a bunch of things they’re going to tell you to do and not do, as*es to kiss and not kiss. If you notice, I was a part of things I’ve never been a part of. Like [Michael] Rubin’s all-white parties. I’m doing sh*t with Tom Brady. That was all for that. You ain’t never seen me in them types of venues. I ain’t Drake. I ain’t out there smiling like that everywhere. I’m in the stu’, smokin’ and recording."
Lil Wayne is about to drop his new album soon

In the recent Rolling Stone interview, Lil Wayne also talked about his upcoming album Tha Carter VI. The album is highly anticipated, and fans couldn't be more thrilled. The rapper shared that the album will feature several big-time guest artists, including Billie Eilish, Machine Gun Kelly, Miley Cyrus, Wyclef Jean, Elephant Man, Bono, Kanye West, Andrea Bocelli, and Kameron Carter, who is Wayne's son. Tha Carter VI is set to be released on June 6, 2025.
