Although Ravyn Lenae has been in the music industry for over a decade, it was her May 2024 song Love Me Not that gave her a bona fide hit. Since then, she's had standout performances at Coachella and Lollapalooza.

Variety has reported that the song became her first hit to reach the Billboard Hot 100 at No. 5, and on Spotify, it is her most-streamed track with over 600 million plays. The song has also been used on TikTok alone over 500,000 times.

“It seems like almost in the blink of an eye, there were 50,000 [videos] and then 100,000 and then two, it just didn’t stop,” Ravyn Lenae told the outlet of her song's sudden success. “I’ve always been an artist that’s been a little shy with social media or just didn’t really understand how it worked for me in a natural way. So this was such a good opportunity for me to lean into it, to find what my thing is online. And I knew that would attract the right people who want to stick around for the whole story.”

Years ago, the Chicago native was booed off stage at the House of Blues, Billboard reported. She ahd a minute left in her opening set, but an impatient crowd began calling for the headliner to come out, prompting the venue to cut off her mic feedback.

“It’s funny now,” she told the outlet of the moment. “I remember tearing up backstage afterward, asking myself if I was built for this … Can I really get past the embarrassment and into the winning-people-over aspect of music?” She continued, “Deciding I could was a pivotal point for me.”

She has since debuted an EP, Moon Shoes, and another Atlantic Records album, Bird’s Eye.
