Disturbed’s David Draiman was reportedly booed off the stage at the Black Sabbath Show.
Heavy Metal group Disturbed’s David Draiman received quite a chilly response from the crowd at the Black Sabbath Show for their all-star jam. David took the stage and sang Ozzy’s “Shot in the Dark” and Sabbath’s “Sweet Leaf,” backed by musicians such as Anthrax’s Scott Ian, ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, Faith No More’s Mike Bordin, Extreme’s Nuno Bettencourt, Sabbath keyboardist Adam Wakeman, and more.
However, the moment he took the stage, fans started booing him, to his surprise, as it wasn't a reaction he was expecting from the crowd. Disturbed is best known for their brooding version of the Simon & Garfunkel classic The Sound of Silence.
Internet reacts to David Draiman
Though the exact reason for publicly shaming him this way was unclear, the internet attributes it to the fact that Draiman is a proud supporter of Israel in their war with Gaza, and fans don't appreciate it.
One user explained, "People hate him because he is a proud Jew & supports Israel. He lost many family members in the Holocaust. I *think* his grandmother was the only survivor. After Glastonbury it doesn’t shock me that these disgusting ppl boo him.
Another expressed, "Maybe instead of signing bombs, he should advocate for peace. The civilians on both sides are being played. David doesn’t seem to understand that.
One user gave their two cents, "He has openly supported Israel. Not popular with the British public. Who are almost always politically aware."
"It's because he's continued to double down on cheerleading a genocide. He is the example of someone whose gigs should be cancelled. Not those advocating against the extermination of life in Gaza," one person exclaimed.
This also stems from when, last year, David Draiman signed Israeli artillery consisting of bombs during his visit to Israel. Fans took it as his sign that he supported the genocide of the Gazan people.
He later clarified on his Instagram account through a video post that he doesn't support the killings of anyone; however, he would sign the artillery all over again as the soldiers had asked him to and that people are ignorantly assuming what the ammunition will be used for.
David Draiman is well known to be controversial because of his political stances and public support of Israel.
