Lil Wayne is a nonchalant king in the hip-hop world. Recently, a clip of Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. (Lil Wayne) performing at Zouk in Las Vegas from July 2024 resurfaced. Netizens claim that the Know What I'm Doing artist was singing the chorus of Kendrick Lamar's diss track, Not Like Us. However, on April 17, 2025, during an interview with Rolling Stone, he clarified what people thought was a diss against his long-time friend, Drake. Lil Wayne said:

"I went onstage and I was singing this song, and they thought I was dissing... I ain’t want my dude to be mad at me. I didn’t even know it was Kendrick!... If it don’t happen on [ESPN] or FS1, I wouldn’t know that happened."

Wayne also cleared up the assumptions that netizens have about how he and Kendrick have beef. He further explained that he is not choosing sides regarding the Kendrick vs. Drake drama because he does not keep tabs on the feud between the two rappers.

In addition to this, Wayne was caught by surprise regarding a few collaborations in the hip-hop industry. He did not know that Jay-Z and Kanye West worked on an album together, even though he recognized two of their songs. Lil Wayne was also unfamiliar with a few faces in the rap industry, referring to a time when Tyler, the Creator, told him that he would be working on a song with Sexyy Red. Wayne expressed that he was not sure who the latter rapper was but appreciated her verse in the song.
