Actor Tom Holland, beloved for his role as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has ventured into the beverage industry by launching his non-alcoholic beer brand, BERO. Set to debut on October 16, 2024, the brand will feature "three brews equally familiar and completely new," per the Instagram announcement released on October 13.
Those eager to sip the beverage can sign up at the brand's official website. On Saturday, Tom Holland took to Instagram to share a picture of him sipping on a pint of the non-alcoholic beverage in a glass branded with the logo "BERO" on it, standing in a kitchen. While he has yet to share further details, the caption read,
"Something's brewing... Launching 10.16.24."
Tom Holland reveals he had an "alcohol problem" and has been sober since 2023
The move follows the actor's journey into sobriety, beginning in 2022. In July 2023, while speaking with Jay Shetty on his podcast, Tom Holland revealed that he started the year strong with plans for a dry January.
"I didn’t one day wake up and say, ‘I’m giving up drinking.’ I just, like many Brits, had had a very, very boozy December. [It was] Christmas time, I was on vacation, I was drinking a lot, and I’ve always been able to drink a lot."
However, he decided to keep pushing it, and about six months in, he noted that it was “the happiest I have ever been in my life.”
"It just really scared me. I just was like, ‘Wow, maybe. Maybe I have a little bit of an alcohol thing’. So I sort of decided to punish myself and say, ‘I’ll do February as well. I’ll do two months off. If I can do two months off, then I can prove to myself that I don’t have a problem.”
He also realized that he had the inclination to rely on booze in dealing with social situations and wanted to axe that dependence, saying,
"All I could think about was having a drink. That’s all I could think about. I was waking up thinking about it. I was checking the clock, ‘When’s it 12pm?'”
However, he revealed that his social life began taking a hit, noting that he couldn't "go to the pub and have a lime soda" or even "go out for dinner," as he was "really, really struggling." That's when he realized that maybe he did have "an alcohol problem.” However, he pushed through.
The Spiderman: Homecoming actor continued,
"I could sleep better. I could handle problems better, things that would go wrong on set, that would normally set me off, I could take in my stride. I had so much, such better mental clarity. I felt healthier, I felt fitter."
Tom Holland joins a growing list of celebrities foraying into the world of alcohol-free beverages, as Blake Lively did the same with Betty Buzz, which she launched in 2021, and Katy Perry, the co-founder of De Soi, which hit the shelves the following year.
