McDonald's 'A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce jugs' celebrate the return of McRib sandwiches: more details

The McRib Sauce jug is exactly what it sounds like—a half-gallon container filled with the same legendary barbecue sauce that coats the McRib sandwich. As for that perfect blend of smoky, sweet, and tangy flavor, it has long been a beloved staple accompaniment to the McRib experience.

Tariq Hassan, Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer at McDonald’s said:

The McRib is more than a sandwich – it’s a part of culture, it’s a legend, it’s an event. McRib SZN is a holiday unto itself, so we wanted to embrace that spirit and give fans an even bigger way to celebrate this year with A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce.

The jug is a limited edition and is designed to facilitate fans to engage in creativity with the sauce beyond the burger. Give it a hug on the ribs, plum it with a sauce for fries, or pour it on burgers that you make yourself, the world of possibilities is endless.

The McRib's Legacy

The McRib sandwich has achieved almost legendary status in the world of fast food in the wake of its introduction in 1981. Due to its limited-time availability, the only thing that has made it more desirable is the hype built around its return to menus.

The unmistakable flavor profile, with a seasoned pork patty, slathered in tangy barbecue sauce and topped with pickles and onions on a soft bun, has won over fans of the McRib. The fervor by the fan base of the McRib, further symbolized through an association with something as mundane as the sauce jar in McDonald's advertisement, demonstrates the intensity of involvement that surrounds this iconic item in the menu.

Why does the Sauce matter?

To many fans, the McRib's sauce is the headliner. Its rich, tangy taste makes the sandwich a legend.

The introduction of the sauce bottle also goes hand-in-glove with a deeper trend of fast-food outlets making their signature sauces available to consumers in the form of home versions. Over the last few years, recipe-breaking sauces, such as Big Mac Sauce and Chick-fil-A's Polynesian Sauce, have flooded grocery store shelves, and the McRib Sauce jug seems like a natural progression from McDonald's.

How to Get a Jug?

The McRib Sauce jug will be sold only for a time at select McDonald's restaurants. Details about prices and availability are still coming out, but fans can look forward to the fact that the jugs will be coming with McRib's return to the segment.

In addition, a small number of jugs will likely be given to McDonald's customers, so they will be a rare item for hardcore fans. There are rumors that special pricing or contests are in play with the jugs as well so checking their social media channels could be beneficial.

Fan's reaction

The reaction to the announcement of the McRib Sauce stream had been truly overwhelming. Everyone was raving and sharing on social media about how one can use the sauce.

A Whole Lotta McRib Sauce pitchers are just another example of how McDonald's makes things memorable. When they put their fans in the position to be able to take home a little piece of the McRib experience, they are not just selling sauce, they are selling out heritage and imagination.
