Rumors have been circulating lately that Marvel is reportedly planning a new HULK movie for Phase 6 of the MCU. Fans were left in disarray when Marvel recently announced the cast for Avengers: Doomsday, but Bruce Banner was left out of the action-packed line-up. But there might be some good news after all, as we might see the big green guy smashing everything in sight again.

Fans react hilariously as Hulk is reportedly coming to the big screen once again

Starting with the Fantastic Four, Marvel has carefully structured a high-octane lineup as part of its shake-up for Phase 6 of the MCU. Only one guy was conspicuous by his absence: Bruce Banner. After transitioning into 'Smart Hulk' towards the latter part of Endgame, we rarely see Bruce light up our screens, apart from a few cameo appearances in She-Hulk and Thor: Love and Thunder.

For the past couple of months, speculation has been rife that the upcoming Hulk movie will be an adaptation of the World War Hulk storyline, though the rumors are yet to be confirmed. With Marvel looking to recapture the frenzy that accompanied the launch of Phase 3, Bruce Banner making a return to smash things once again would certainly be a welcoming proposition.

Inevitably, when fans got wind of the rumors, the internet exploded with a mix of excitement, skepticism, and downright hilarity, with fans eagerly awaiting the potential return of the big green guy. Amid the mass hysteria, fans had just one demand:

"Just don’t give us “Yoga Hulk” again", pleaded one fan (via X / @waigerHQ)
"Please make him angry again", requested another (via X / @futbol_jac53826)
"That’s the one that NEEDS the restructuring because he’s let us down for a while Please bring the aggression back!!! Hell, bring Thanos a** back so he can get his fade back! lol", joked another fan (via X / @MrSouthBeach)

It's fair to say that fans have had enough of Smart Hulk and want a return to simpler times when he smashed his opponents first and grunted a word or two later if he was feeling chatty. Sometimes, he didn't even spare his foes the courtesy of a response, he just beat them senseless. Can you remember the time that he absolutely rag-dolled the God of Mischief, Loki? That was when we related to him the most; that's where he was at his best.

Unsurprisingly, the prospect of Hulk returning to his peculiar ways has fans salivating. But they have been burned before, and this rollercoaster of hype and heartbreak has turned them into a skeptical bunch. Amid the dispute between Universal and Marvel relating to Hulk standalone movies, fans expressed doubts about the future of the movie and took this opportunity to throw shade at the parties involved:

"What kind of extortion did Marvel have to use to get universal to Bend", joked one fan (via X / @ThomasLWHave)
"Is it happening is it not happening?! Make up your minds folks! Hell, if Universal is still being bratty about things just make it a Red Hulk movie instead. At least we'll have a Hulk that actually hulks then", quipped another (via X / @TeenWerewolf31)
"What? not have him go through movies worth of plot offscreen between movies? Strange new idea", jested another fan (via X / @GardenJ23)

As the clamor for Bruce to be seen on the big screen grew, some fans were left bewildered at the prospect of seeing the big green machine on the screens again. Invariably, with no official confirmation, fans immediately began crafting elaborate theories to fill the void. Some demanded a showdown with Wolverine, while others pondered over the possible title of the movie.

One fan even hilariously suggested that the whole movie might take place inside Bruce’s head during one of his meditation sessions. Amid the euphoria, some fans questioned the absurdity of the situation as they came up with alternate ideas for the movie:

"Hulk will train hulks how not to be hulk", joked one fan (via X / @xRohanx)

Another fan (@ICharly_SAYS) hilariously quipped :

"This sounds more like a threat"

While the rumor has sparked a wave of hilarity on social media, we are still awaiting official confirmation from Marvel for the same. Could we see Bruce wreaking havoc across the multiverse in a World War Hulk adaptation? We certainly hope so. Judging from the fact that Marvel’s running out of Avengers to give solo films to, a standalone movie for the big guy cannot be ruled out.
