The community of Wylie Texas is concerned for the safety of beloved member Melonie Ballenger, who has been missing since Sunday, November 3, 2024. The Wylie Police are searching for Melonie Ballenger, last seen walking in the area of Lakefield Drive and Country Club Road, at 11 p.m. on Sunday. Ballenger reportedly stepped out of her home for a walk before disappearing without a trace.
In a Facebook post, Wylie police department implored for the public's assistance in locating Ballenger’s whereabouts. In the post, police said:
“Wylie PD is searching for a missing 45 yo white female Melonie Ballenger. Melonie was last seen walking near Country Club and Lakefield at 11 pm on 11/3/2024.”
Police added that Ballenger was last seen wearing a purple tank top. They continued:
“If you have any information regarding her please contact Wylie Dispatch at (972)442-8171.”
According to WFAA, police deployed K9 search dogs along with a Texas Department of Public Safety helicopter to search the area but failed to find any trace of the missing woman.
Police asked neighbors to check their surveillance cameras for any sighting of the missing woman between the hours of 12 am and 6 am on Monday.

The disappearance of 45-year-old Melonie Ballenger has triggered widespread concern from friends, who took to social media to plead for any information in connection to her disappearance.
The police was notified about Ballenger’s disappearance early Monday morning around 6:30 a.m. when they responded to the 100 block of Parkwood Dr. after a man reported his wife missing. Police said Ballenger, who left her home on foot, did not take her car or phone.
Several friends took to Facebook and shared posts praying for her safe return. Community member, Debby Oberste, said:
“Please pray she is found!!! She attends my church. Chris and I serve as ushers with her husband.”
Another friend, Jamie Howard Maxy, wrote:
“My heart is breaking, praying she is found safe! Melonie Ballenger I love you!”
Several search organizations also amplified the posts about her disappearance on social media. The Aware Foundation wrote:
“Residents in the area are asked to review their outdoor camera footage between the hours of 12 a.m. and 6 a.m. to see if there is any video of Melonie in the area.”
As of November 4, 2024, Ballenger is yet to be found. Ballenger was described as 5 '7, 135 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information was urged to call Detective Pollard at 972-429-8014.
