Where was Ava Nitzband last seen? Search intensifies for Tennessee teen after the family received a concerning text

The Blount County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in locating 15-year-old Ava Nitzband, who was reported missing alongside two missing teens in Maryville, Tennessee, on October 26, 2024.

According to the police, Ava Nitzband, Chase Logan (16), and Landon Brown (15) left Friday evening without permission. They are believed to be traveling together in a blue 2021 Ford F250 truck with a Tennessee tag 674 NNL, possibly heading to Kentucky.

A missing person’s flier for Ava Nitzband said her family received a concerning text message on Friday night, which said:

“They are shutting my phone off. I am scared for my life right now.”

The flier was shared by the search organization Missing People In America. Ava Nitzband was last seen at her house at 10:15 p.m. on October 25, 2024, in Maryville, Tennessee. The family received the message at 10:38 p.m.


Law enforcement issues a plea for help in locating Ava Nitzband

The Blount County Sheriff's Office is enlisting the public’s help in locating Ava Nitzband’s whereabouts after she was reported missing by her family on Saturday, October 26. Ava was reported missing alongside two teen boys who are believed to be in a blue 2021 Ford F250 truck heading to Kentucky. In a post on Facebook, the police said:

“Sheriff James Lee Berrong is asking for the public’s assistance in locating three juveniles who were reported missing by their families Saturday morning. The juveniles are travelling together.”

The police urged anyone with information to call the Blount County Dispatch non-emergency number at 865-983-3620.

Nitzband’s family, concerned for their daughter’s safety, enlisted the help of the search organization Missing People of America, who circulated a flier on multiple social media platforms, hoping it would generate a lead toward her whereabouts. The flier said the family received a concerning text from the teen minutes after she was last seen at home on Friday night. The post shared by True Crime Society read:

“Her family is concerned for her safety. If you have any information on her whereabouts, or if you see the vehicle, contact the Blount County Sheriff's Office at 865-273-5000 or call 911.”

Several people shared the post to amplify the message of her disappearance. A community member, Robin WB, said:

“Shared in Louisville KY. Prayers! Also shared to a local private group that focuses on Louisville KY for news that doesn’t make it to the TV news if you know what I mean.”

Another added:

“This is in the town where I live and it’s so tragic.”

At the time of writing this story, authorities have yet to find the teens.
