Elijah Vue, a 3-year-old toddler from Wisconsin, went missing in February 2024. The child was reported missing by his mother's boyfriend from his home in Two Rivers. However, about seven months later, the kid's remains were found and following the investigation, Elijah's mother Katrina Baur, 31, and her boyfriend Jesse Vang, 39, are now facing multiple charges.

According to officials, Baur dropped off her 3-year-old son at Vang's home in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, to discipline the child. After Vang reported him missing, the authorities grew suspicious of foul play. The FBI announced a $15,000 reward for information leading to Elijah Vue, and an Amber Alert was immediately issued by the police in February.

In September, a deer hunter found skeletal remains in a remote area about three miles away from Vang's home. Further investigation confirmed that the remains were of Elijah's.

As the child's remains have been found, authorities allegedly believe that Elijah died around the same time when Vang reported him missing. However, how the child passed away is still unclear. The medical examiner has confirmed that Elijah died from homicide and, as a result, Vang has been charged with physical abuse of a child, resisting or obstructing an officer, and hiding a corpse.

Previously, when Elijah Vue was not declared dead, his mother was reportedly charged with party-to-a-crime child neglect and two counts of obstructing officers. Vang was also charged with child neglect.

According to a report by WBAY, Manitowoc County District Attorney Jacalyn LaBre said Baur allowed Vang to take disciplinary action on her son. The attorney added,

"She condoned it and allowed it to happen and left him there days before he passed away when she had the opportunity to remove him from that situation. Furthermore, he attempted to cover up his crime with the hiding a corpse charge where he did try to conceal where our victim was placed, and, as the court was aware, it did take an amount of time for us to actually locate where the victim was, so he did try to conceal the crime as well."

Prosecutors are allegedly claiming Vang killed Elijah.

Two Rivers Police Department held a press conference for the Elijah Vue case

The Two Rivers Police Department held a press conference to share details about the case. In their briefing, LaBre mentioned how Elijah's death has impacted his loved ones and the agencies that were involved in the investigation. She added,

"Our priority has always been to insure a fair and just process, and today’s announcement is a reflection of our commitment to upholding the law and seeking justice for Elijah."

Katrina Baur's next court date for a status conference is scheduled for October 22.
