New body camera footage shows Florida parents Jorge Rivera and Dagmarie Aponte Iturrino attacking a Deltona middle school resource deputy on Tuesday, November 19, 2024.
The couple were reportedly meeting with the school deputy to discuss their son’s battery charge over shoving a girl in the hallway. The video circulating on X and shared by conservative commentator Collin Rugg has been viewed over 800,000 times. The video showed Jorge Rivera and his wife becoming increasingly irate with the deputy before attacking her in the school hallway.

According to multiple reports, Rivera and his wife, Dagmarie Aponte Iturrino, were charged with battery on a law enforcement officer, trespassing on the school campus, resisting violence, and disruption of school function.
Jorge Rivera Deltona Middle School deputy assault video explored
Bodycam footage worn by the officer showed Jorge Rivera and his wife, Dagmarie Aponte Iturrino, sitting down for a meeting with the Deltona Middle School resource officer to discuss their son's battery charge. The couple’s son was reportedly charged with shoving a girl in the school hallway the day prior.
The footage showed Rivera and his wife, Dagmarie Aponte Iturrino, vehemently protesting the charge leveled against their son. In the video, the school deputy is heard explaining their son was the primary aggressor in the incident. The boy’s mother, Iturrino, interjects, defending her son, saying he reacted after the girl was allegedly “yelling at him.”
When the deputy asks the parents to let her explain the incident without interruptions, Jorge Rivera jumps in saying she failed his son. He then seemingly threatens the deputy.
“We’re not talking about adults. It’s kids. If this was about adults believe me we settle this a different way. We’re talking about kids,” Rivera said
The video then showed Rivera becoming increasingly irate with the officer before hurling insults.
“Why are you so worthless? Do you feel proud that you are this worthless lady?” He continues, “I pay your salary you dumb (expletive)... you are a worthless piece of (expletive)," Rivera added.
Rivera was then asked to leave. Walking out of the room, Rivera continued to hurl insults at the deputy, who followed them out the door. In the Deltona Middle School hallway, Rivera’s wife, Iturrino, was seen pushing the deputy against a wall before Rivera knocked the deputy to the ground and ripped the Taser from her hand. The deputy then pulls out her weapons and commands Jorge Rivera to drop the taser before taking him into custody. Volusia Sheriff Mike Chitwood condemned the incident, saying:
“If you’re wondering why some kids show no fear of consequences in today’s society, look no further than these parents as Exhibit A.”
The Independent reported the couple’s son was present at Deltona Middle School during the incident.
