Adan Manzano, a 27-year-old reporter for Telemundo Kansas City, tragically died nearly a year after his wife Ashleigh Boyd passed away in a car accident. Manzano reportedly died while covering the Super Bowl in New Orleans on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. While the cause of death was not disclosed, in a statement, his employers said police have opened an investigation into his death.
Manzano’s passing comes ten months after his 24-year-old wife Ashleigh Boyd was killed in a crash that seriously injured their infant daughter. The crash also injured the adult driver of another vehicle in southwest Shawnee County in Topeka.
According to a report in the Topeka Capital-Journal on April 11, 2024, Ashleigh Boyd, a second-grade teacher at Lowman Hill Elementary School, was driving a Nissan Versa with her infant daughter.
They were reportedly heading eastbound on S.W. 53rd Street when the car collided head-on with a blue Ford F-150 pickup, traveling westbound on S.W. 53rd Street. Ashleigh Boyd was pronounced dead at the scene.
Boyd’s infant daughter and the 52-year-old driver of the other vehicle, Todd Armstrong, were rushed to a hospital.
According to KSNT, Todd Armstrong told officers a blown tire or a mechanical issue with his truck caused the crash that killed Boyd. Police reportedly said the investigation revealed there were no signs Armstrong tried to stop the truck.
Adan Manzano and late wife Ashleigh Boyd are survived by their daughter Eleanor
Adan Manzano's Instagram bio paid tribute to his late wife with the message, “Always in my heart Ashleigh Boyd.” Months before the tragic crash, the couple shared a picture on Instagram celebrating their daughter’s first birthday.
Ashleigh Boyd’s obituary stated she graduated from Santa Fe Trail High School in 2018, before attending Kansas State University and earning her degree from Emporia State University.
Boyd was described as an innately kind and devoted second-grade teacher at Lowman Hill Elementary School. They added:
“Her sparkling personality was contagious and would light up any room she walked into. She was a ray of sunshine and always had a smile on her face. Ashleigh touched so many lives and had a positive influence on everyone she met. She was a mother to 15-month-old, Eleanor, who became Ashleigh’s entire world.”
At the time, the obituary stated Boyd was survived by her daughter Eleanor and husband Adan Manzano.
