The seven-year-old boy, Uriah Sayer Jr, who went missing from his father's home in Lakewood was found by the police just hours after the Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) released an Amber Alert on Monday.
The family of Uriah Sayer expressed relief and joy after they spent hours worried and restless. Uriah's mom, Aurielle Green, expressed that she just wants to 'hold her son and not let go', while Uraih's grandmother said,
Praise the lord. Hallelujah, he is on his way back to his momma and we are just ecstatic. It was just a sense of relief.
According to CBS News, the police caught the suspect, 26-year-old Crystal Denmon, a few hours after they located Uriah. The boy was reportedly abducted from his father's home by Denmon, who also shot his father. According to Aurielle, Denmon is Uriah's father's ex-girlfriend.
All I know is that she's my child's father's ex-girlfriend. From what I knew, there was a restraining order in place, so she shouldn't have even been there.
The father, who was shot, is reported to be in stable condition in the hospital.
Where did the Colorado State Patrol locate Uriah and Denmon?
According to 9News, the abduction is said to have taken place after 6.00 am at Uriah's father's apartment. The officers responding to the apartment found Uriah's father shot and Saye Jr. was nowhere to be found in the house. According to X post by CBI, Uriah and his suspected abductor, Denmon were last seen 'driving a 2012 White Ford Focus, and plate 6812186 at 12.50 pm in Cheraw'. Soon an Amber Alert was set up for the boy around 1.40 pm.
According to a CBS report, the Lakewood Police Department, alongside the Colorado State Patrol, looked for them along the Eastern and Southeastern parts of Colorado. During the search, Lindsey Witzel, public information officer for Lakewood PD,
Once we were believing that the suspect had fled the area in a vehicle, we started getting other agencies, such as Colorado State Patrol involved to be able to help us with traying to locate the vehicle. It's scary for investigators, I cannot imagine what the family is going through.
According to 9News, by 3.45 pm, the Colorado State Patrol was able to locate them in the town of Last Chance, along Denver. Though Denmon was arrested by the police no further information including the charges against her was released to the public.
Uriah's mother expressed her relief in not having to worry about Denmon taking her son away from her. She said, as reported by CBS News,
It's definitely over. Don't have to worry about her being harassed anymore or trying to take my child from me ever again.
