Former politician Michael Grimm is currently facing one of the most difficult times in his life. The former New York representative in the United States Congress recently suffered a brutal accident while riding a horse. The accident has left him paralyzed from the chest down.

Grimm was a Congressman, a Marine, and an undercover FBI agent. He has done many interesting yet controversial jobs throughout his life, and people have also been curiously involved in his personal life.

For the unversed, Michael Grimm was married for a brief period. He tied the knot with Susan Kim in 1994. However, the marriage was annulled, and the two had no children. The reason behind their annulment is currently unknown.

Following his brief marriage, Grimm became a controversial figure in 1999. While working as an FBI agent, the politician was allegedly dating a married woman and had an encounter with the woman's estranged husband.

According to The Week, an NYPD officer revealed that Grimm had an altercation with his alleged girlfriend's husband. While the officer ended the fight, the two returned for another face-off. The officer then claimed that Grimm brandished his gun, saying he was an FBI agent and "ain't nobody going to threaten me."

What happened to Michael Grimm?

Michael Grimm was involved in a serious accident which has left him paralyzed from the chest down. According to the New York Post, he is being treated at Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in New Jersey.

Grimm's close friend and deputy executive director of the New York City Board of Elections, Vincent Ignizio, gave an update about his condition. Ignizio revealed that he had paid frequent visits to Grimm amid his treatment.

"He’s currently immobilized and is currently being treated to try to give him the function that he can obtain. A lot of prayers are needed."

For his long-term medical treatment and recovery, a fundraiser has been set up on GoFundMe by Michael Grimm Supplemental Needs Trust. The GoFundMe page read,

"Our friend, former Marine, FBI Agent, and US Congressman Michael Grimm was paralyzed following a devastating accident when thrown from a horse in September 2024. He has been in the most devastating of situations and through the grace of God, Mr. Grimm has miraculously thread the needle to survive. Yet, his ongoing care and the treatment to walk again will cost millions of dollars."

So far, the fundraiser has raised over $82,500. However, this is far from the goal of $2.5 million.

Grimm's supporters are wishing him a speedy recovery.
