Buena Vista ISD accident: Texas DPS confirms three students killed in two-vehicle crash

A tragic accident on November 20 claimed the lives of three students from Buena Vista Independent School District.

According to Texas Department of Public Safety, a two-vehicle accident occurred on FM 1053, resulting in the deaths of three students.

In response to the accident, Buena Vista ISD released a statement saying that their school will remain closed for the rest of the week. In a Facebook post they wrote:

"Buena Vista ISD will be closed tomorrow and Friday. We have had a tragic accident. Counselors will be available on campus for all students and staff in need of their services."

Reactions to the Buena Vista car crash

The collision occurred on FM 1053, a highway known for its narrow lanes and fast-moving traffic. The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reported that two vehicles crashed under unclear circumstances, leading to devastating consequences. Emergency responders quickly arrived, but the severity of the crash left little chance for survival for those involved.

According to Merradon, The Buena Vista ISD confirmed that the victims were students at Buena Vista High School. The names of the victims, who were also siblings, are known to be Nautica Carrasco, and Jackie and Jaden Jurado (siblings).

The Merradon also claims that a prayer vigil was held Thursday evening at the Buena Vista High School gym, drawing hundreds to honor the victims. At the prayer vigil, according to the Merradon, Trena Alexa Jurado said:

“Our hearts are shattered, but your prayers and love are giving us strength. Please continue to pray for us as we try to navigate this unbearable loss.”

People across Texas are reacting to the news in shock. A user on Facebook wrote:

"Parents should never have to bury their children... My thoughts & prayers go out to the families, students, administration, staff & friends who are all shocked & grieving. 🙏🏼 Wrap your arms around your children a little tighter this evening & remember that tomorrow is never promised. 🥺"

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is advising drivers to avoid the area as they continue their investigation into the crash. Authorities have not yet released additional information regarding the circumstances leading to the collision.
