Amanda Setton plays Brook Lynn Quartermaine on ABC’s hit serial General Hospital. Married to Chase (Josh Swickard), Brook Lynn (named after the place she was born) is the daughter of Ned Quartermaine (Wally Kurth) and Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) and is currently Blaze’s (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) music manager.

Setton was born on December 16, 1985, in Great Neck, New York. She has played the role of Brook Lynn since 2019, though she was temporarily replaced by Briana Lane while on maternity leave. There have been no indications that Setton—or Brook Lynn—will be leaving Port Charles anytime soon.

“She is a bitch. She has a nasty streak in her. But she’s not just the self-involved, narcissistic, nasty girl who plots and schemes. She’s also funny, loving, and warm.” - Amanda Setton describing her character, Brook Lynn Quartermaine, on General Hospital to FIRST for Women.

Setton also shared with the magazine that she has favorite General Hospital co-stars. At the top of the list is Josh Swickard, who plays her husband, Chase, followed by her on-screen parents, Wally Kurth and Rena Sofer.

Where you may have seen Amanda Setton before General Hospital

Thanks to streaming services like Netflix, Crave, and Max, Gossip Girl is getting a whole new generation of fans. Setton appeared on the show as Penelope, one of the “minions,” a group of mean girls that took orders from Blair Waldorf. Setton told FIRST for Women that she loved working on the show, and has remained close friends with Leighton Meester (Blair, Gossip Girl). “We’ve literally grown up together,” Setton said.. “Like, I wore Leighton’s veil at my wedding. Our spouses are good friends. Our kids are friends. It’s a real familial feeling.”

Setton joined One Life to Live in 2009 to play Kimberly Andrews. Her boss at the time was Frank Valentini, who is now the Executive Producer of General Hospital.

Speaking to Jeff Schneider on Between Takes on CBS, she revealed that she took a semester abroad in Barcelona, but didn’t study acting. Setton is an amazing sketch artist, shading lines with her fingers as she talked about preferring the Meisner Technique as an actor. “For me, Meisner is really a toolbelt. So spontaneous and so in the moment, it really is what the Meisner Technique is all about.”

Setton appeared alongside Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar in The Crazy Ones. Viewers may also recognize her from The Mind Project, where she played Shauna Dicanio.

Amanda Setton’s personal life is private

As for her real family, Setton keeps her personal life private. Unlike many of her General Hospital co-stars, she doesn’t share those details freely. The mother of three is married, but that is about as much as you’re going to get from her directly.

In a case of art NOT imitating life, Setton is nothing like her former character on Gossip Girl and stays away from social media. The actor told FIRST for Women, “Social media is not my jam. Facebook came out when I was in college, and at the time, I was just not interested. And then right out of college, I booked Gossip Girl. And at that point, it wasn’t a thing to be on social media, so I never got on it – and I think for my personal sanity and mental health, it’s been a good choice!”

Setton said in the interview that she prefers meeting General Hospital fans and hearing their opinions rather than reading about things online. She said, “I love connecting in those types of environments. The few I have been privileged to be a part of, it’s been so wonderful to meet the fans, interact with them, answer their questions, and hear about their experiences with GH, One Life, and all the other shows.”

“Being offline makes attending the occasional fan event extra special,” Amanda Setton (Brook Lynn, General Hospital) to FIRST for Women.

Two years ago, Setton was on a friend’s Instagram, showcasing her “before” and “after” following a fitness routine. The actor was mentioned by @fitgrahammitchell, who said, “It all started with a simple mantra… “Strong and Healthy”..So proud of my good friend and client Amanda.”
