Welcome to the General Hospital Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What Happened on General Hospital
Let's talk about pointless scenes that could have had a point. Ava was still giddy with the knowledge that she knew something about Sonny that was clearly a secret, and she couldn't wait to tell someone besides Ric, so why couldn't she have told Sonny's ex-wife? Nina stopped by to thank Ava for hooking her up with Portia. Between the two of them, she was sure they could bring Drew down. (We will never understand why characters can't just text those things and have to always show up unannounced on soaps.) Ava was in a rush because she had to drop Avery off with Sonny. She then told Nina rather coyly that she has started to see Sonny in a whole new light. And...that was it. We never saw Nina again for the rest of the hour. She said five lines and then disappeared. Now, if she had asked Ava what she was talking about and Ava mentioned that Sonny collapsed to the floor with chest pains, that would have been interesting. We could have even had some drama as Nina absorbed the fact that the husband she once loved so much had a serious health problem. Nina never even wanted the divorce, as her feelings for Sonny lingered. Instead, Nina showed up at Ava's place for no actual reason, said a few words, and essentially vanished. Why was Nina even on this episode if she seemed to serve no purpose or advance the story at all? Just make it make sense.
