For over 30 years, Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) has reigned as Port Charles’ mafia don on General Hospital. Many people on both sides of the law have tried to take him down over the years, but all have failed. With his recent heart surgery, coupled with several attempts on his life — including one that severely injured his son, Michael (Chad Duell) — Sonny and his chief enforcer, Jason (Steve Burton), are thinking about getting out of the organized crime business. But that’s no small task, and one stumbling block is: Who will take his place?
She’s got the stomach for it

Jason explained that he’ll cover for Sonny when he’s absent, but doesn’t want the responsibility of overseeing the entire Northeastern Sea Front forever. Despite being a racketeer, Sonny provides a much-needed service for Port Charles: he protects the city from evildoers and mobsters who are far more nefarious than he is. One recent addition to his rogue’s gallery, Jenz Sidwell (Carlo Rota), seems like he’s gunning for Sonny’s job and would stop at nothing to take over the territory.
But there’s one person who might be a good candidate to replace him and who has become just like him…his daughter Kristina (Kate Mansi). At present, she’s a bit of a loose cannon who’s guided by her emotions instead of logic. However, with the right guidance, Kristina could definitely be a contender for the top spot on General Hospital.
She certainly would have no problem dispatching her enemies, as evidenced by her recent actions. She cut the brake lines of what she thought was Ava’s (Maura West) car, but it turned out to be Ric’s (Rick Hearst), causing him and Elizabeth (Rebecca Herbst) to be nearly killed. Kristina would have to be refined and taught how to look before she leaps, but she definitely has the stomach for being a mobstress.
He’s not going to want it

General Hospital's Sonny has always wanted to keep his kids away from his ‘business,’ but Michael’s already been collateral damage twice in his life. Sonny would not want Kristina to step into his shoes, especially not with her current mindset. But if his heart issue came back, or he was incapacitated in some other way, she might be inclined to step in, much the same way Carly (Laura Wright) did when everyone thought Sonny was dead (he was really amnesiac in the sleepy town of Nixon Falls).
Jason would have to train her on several skills, the first of which is proper gun safety and target practice. Then she’d have to be brought up to speed on the mechanics of the organization, as well as who the major players are. Brick (Stephen A. Smith) would also have to step in and be a major guiding force for Kristina. They would make a great teacher/student duo, and his calm and logical demeanor would rub off on her.
Something big is going to have to happen for Kristina to step in, and if she keeps staying on the course she’s on, she’ll get there eventually.
